www.kultofathena.com/product.asp ... der+Sword+ Kult of Athena has this sword for sale. It lists no maker, nor much information about it's origins at all. Would anyone happen to know who makes this blade, and if they have it, it's quality? Obviously a 50 dollar sword isn't going to accomplish much, but i'm curious about it as I like the look and shape. Usable alternatives would interest me as well, as I've seen a lot of Arundil reviews of blades that are little better than slo's.

Well... its stainless steel, KoA doesn't list it as battle ready, the belt looks very cheep and the pommel looks poorly fitted... I wouldn't even consider it a good SLO wallhanger, let alone a sword.

I kind of figured that, given the price, but to be fair I just bought a perfectly good katana that while not amazing is usable and was 20-ish dollars more, so I guess price isn't always the deciding factor.
KOA is a distributor from what I understand, but when they don't list a maker, does that mean that they make them themselves, or something?

Well, Katana's are a fair bit more popular than western swords, so the abundance of them has done wonders for the pricing. It's true, you can get a very good katana for around 50-70 bucks, but as pop culture is right now, there isn't a huge following of western blades. However, any sword that is advertised as stainless is a wall hanger and not meant to be cut with. As for the manufacturer, it's likely some no-name chinese factory that will roll out a few hundered of these and sell them in bulk to places like Bud-K. Because KOA isn't dumb, they too offer decorative options for sword fans
