Well if ya can't swing it, ya can use it ta pole vault over the sheild wall... Nice review Dave. With a blade that long it would be hard to manage too stiff as t would add another pound or more. Woof. Glad to know you feel positive. This old man will draw the line at 5 lbs for himself.

LOL, thanks Dave. Yes it's definitely a big toy meant for big boys. You really need to see one in person just to realize just how big it is. You know what's funny? I used to think my Roven was a big sword. After handling this sword, the Roven feels as light as my Tinker Bastard! After drilling with this for awhile I might get Popeye forearms!

Pretty cool sword. Thanks for the review. I like the overall look of this sword, I especially like the hexagon cross section...I think those types of sections look really cool.

It sure does and the Roven is a pretty big sword compared to most other longswords.

The flat Hex is really something you have to see in person, Pics and art just don't do it any justice since it's so smooth and hard to take.

Thanks for very nice review. I must say I've looked this sword many times over the years, from the websites this did not fully impress me. Now after reading your review I think this one would have been better one than the another huge Windlass I got... I like this new beast of yours.

Yea I worked the handle down so it wasn't so bulbous. Then wrapped it in some black leather I had lying around. Was going to keep you brown as I liked the color but it tore.

Humm. That's very interesting. I'm sure with a bit of work this blade could be refined to look a little closer to the original.

You know aside from the guard being a little thinner on the original they are actually quite similar, outside the fact the original had a cross stitched leather wrap at some point in time. Here's another pic showing the blade of the original. As you can see the blade doesn't taper on the original either. and the pommel is pretty exact. Overall compaired to most of Windlass' historical reproductions this one seems to hit the hammer on the head pretty well for replication. Attachments:

Wanted to post an update. Sword is sharp and cuts like a dream! I was worried that the whip in the diagonal cut would build resistance but I was wrong. Not even a snag. Anyways I know talk is cheap so I'll try to get a video up tomorrow.

No problem, yea I don't think you can go wrong with Windlass for a quality sword on a budget. They're one of the few manufactures who offer a wide variety of sword types on the market, let alone at an affordable price point. Sure the more lavish enthusiasts can nit pick the hell out of their pieces. None the less they offer a quality functional sword at the best price and variety on the European market.
