This is the fourth time I've customized my CS Warrior katana.
I'm finally happy with it now that I reshaped the tsuka and made a new tsuba.
I also removed the original black paint and lacquer from the saya completely.
It peeled off ridiculously easy.
Now it's waxed with mixture of carnauba and bees wax.
I remade the leather wrapping. As you've seen before.
You've also seen the attachment of the menuki before (wrapped with string).
Leather is lacquered and then sanded.
I made the mekugis out of bamboo. Bamboo is from an old shinai.
I did a rough paint job on the saya so I can get a better grip of it.
I haven't decided on the sageo yet.
Maybe I won't put a sageo at all.
What I've done to the sword before:
- Shortened the blade and saya
- Reshaped nakago
- Reshaped the edge of the blade (filed niku off)
- saya paint job and rewrapped tsuka ito, many times...
Now the tsuka fits my hands perfectly.
I like slender, wide(ish) and flat tsukas.
I know it's plain but it only bothers me visually.
It is sturdier like this and perfect size all the way.
Tsuba is carved of aluminum.
It doesn't affect the balance negatively since the blade is also shortened.
Balance and handling of the sword are nice, maybe a little bit "special".
Now I think I can finally sleep easy knowing that all my swords are adequate.
Thank you.
