Hello there, just found this designs section and thought I'd put up a sheet that i was doodling on in class today. Feel free to critique. ;D Edit: trying to post an image is making me angry, here's a link img179.imageshack.us/my.php?image=swords1bc5.jpg

Hey, er - Mr. Poo... (no relation to Winnie? Hmm, judging by your avatar, methinks not...) Here's the pics so everyone can see them. Not bad at all really. (you were pretty close to getting the image to work by the way)

I actually quitw like the scimitar and Grösse Messer. I'm also giddy to learn that the character library on my phone extends to include ö, apparently among many, many others. Must be the Windows Mobile.
Your Greek model is interesting, though I feel the tip too rounded. Otherwise, it's great.
Now, as for Italy, I'm not sure a better weapon could be found. What better way to fight the enemy than by feeding them delicious food? With any luck, the sheer level of obesity and/or cardiac failure will decimate their forces.
The US is also very accurate, or would have been in the Glory Days, when we still knew what all-out war was. I feel like we worry too much now about the political side of war, what with civilian losses, friendly fire, our own troop losses, and the media's over-hyping of these.
Sure. civilian losses should be minimized, friendly fire avoided, and heck, it'd be great if we could stop young men dying in bloody combat, but how did these affect good ol' WW2? Back when leveling entire city blocks and losing hundreds of troops in a day was standard fare? Oh well, it really is a different world now...
Whoops, rant bordering on political dispute, please disregard. Super Gun was funny, though.

Thanks guys. The Grosse Messer turned out a bit more fantasy oriented than i intended, but i'm happy with it. With the greek one i was going for a pure chopping sword. Something a heavily armored hoplite would carry, and hack the crap outta crappily armored persians (yay for 300 references!). The wide rounded blade would slice way more than a straight sword with every blow. Almost like the Scimitar. The Italian and US ones were jokes with my brother. We're both 3rd generation Italian, and we are the few liberals in our very conservative city. I don't want to get into politics, but he found it funny ;D

I like the kukri-like blade in the first drawing, second row, 2nd from left. I've not seen this particular combination of elements before (my exposure to fantasy blade designs in limited). I wonder how it would fare.
Post Script
I hope you're not creating these drawings while you're in [public] school. Some teacher might see them and take them for a threat. Back when schools were bastions of conservative thought, one could take their weapons to school. But today, a drawing or photo will get you suspended or arrested or both. I don't want to get into politics, but find it ironic.

Thanks, with that one i was kinda mixing a chinese broadsword with a Kukri. Yup, public school. Most of my teachers know me as a responsible student, i get A's and take AP classes and such, so when they see this kind of thing, they think nothing of it. My Jewelry teacher even helps me with designs sometimes.

I do most of my designs in school. Thankfully I've not gotten in trouble yet. I make my swords as ART not weapons. But then again, anyone here about that kid recently who got kicked out of school for drawing a gun? The 10th grade english teach is my sword fighting instructor so we all good laughs over period weaponry (btw poo, AP classes are fun, no? I've got 3 this year. Completely overloaded with work, but fun noetheless. 3 is half of my schedule lol...)

Actually, I'm a senior, suprisingly.
AP euro, AP english lit (IV), and AP Gov't/Economics.
(I had AP human geography last year, and I was going to take APUSH - I wish I did. I took honors (not gifted) and got my first C....ever....yuck. But then again, it WAS the highest grade in the class...)
