I'm sure this topic has come up before but I can't find it.I was wondering what other members use for their edc knife?. I've owned a lot of knives over the years and carried everything from Bowies to Straight Razors. These days though I like to stay legal,so that means in the UK a sub 3"" non locking folder. For the past two months I've been carrying a Higonakami and I'm seriously impressed with this little blade. It's just touching on the maximum 3 inch blade length and keeps a superb edge, all it needs is an occasional stroke from my Opinel mini steel and it comes straight back up to hair shaving sharp. Also it has a utilitarian beauty to it,no frills but just quietly does it's job. I'm really getting into these simple designs like the Higonakami/Douk Douk/Svord Peasant and Mercator style knives.Cheap, cheerful with good old carbon steel blades . So after that long winded rant what knife do you guys/gals like to carry as your personal edc

Mine is a Sanrenmu 710 frame lock folder. It is one of the best edc folders I've ever owned or used and I have it on me always. Best production knife I've ever bought. Attachments:

EDC's were often posted in the "your favorite knife"-thread. My EDC is a Opinel Gr.2. Folder, not fixed, high carbon steel, 3,5cm blade and sharp as a scalpel. And I only carry it when on work. Hadn't have used a knife in normal day life for about 2 decades, so I havn't any real need for knives outside my kitchen or besides a camping/fishing trip. But I'm still buying knives

Right now, I've got a Benchmade 581 Barrage (the nicer looking version, with the M390 blade) and a Zero Tolerance 0770 that I carry daily. The ZT has been in my pants pocket, mostly because it's the newest. It will probably get put on the shelf soon, though; and my old Kershaw Vapor II will end up back in there. I'm not really sure why - because I've got plenty of better knives - but that thing always winds up in my pocket. I guess if I was to be totally honest, I'd put it on my current EDC list; because even when I'm not carrying it, it's generally in my pack or the inside pocket of my jacket,

I've posted this before, but this is pretty much everything I tend to carry when I'm not at work: I alternate the two fixed blades, most often it's the one seen vertically, but the Citadel Trapper at the bottom has been seeing more time on my belt lately, if only because it's just a more substantial knife. Of the folders, the black and white scale one is my anything, anywhere, anytime, a J.J. Martinez Arabe. Had it for two years or so and it's never not in my pocket, unless it's beside me on a table or similar surface. Poor thing, though, the scales are looking quite bad. Pocket life is hard, I guess. I'm thinking if I retire this one, it'll be for a new-fashioned higo-type, specifically this one here: www.filofiel.com/tiendaonline/hi ... -7706.html Or maybe an Opinel; been wanting to get one for years now just to see how they hold up. I'd get either one of these, most likely: www.filofiel.com/tiendaonline/op ... -2742.html www.filofiel.com/tiendaonline/op ... -2741.html Of course, I just tripped over this maker, and now I need one: www.filofiel.com/tiendaonline/bb ... 4_649.html I like the old-fashioned stuff, usually I get less hassle for it. I tried to show a few people the Spyderco Native I'd bought off a member here recently and a few passersby visibly flinched at it. When I open my J.J., though, it gets attention, because it's noisy, but that attention seldom lingers. I think I might just go ahead and buy one of those Manly's and the carbon Opinel; have to see if other stores sell both. I love Filofiel because they have stuff I can't find anywhere else, buy buying from Spain is kind of awkward...

I carry this tiny fixed blade every day: I find it plenty big enough for most everything I do. For hiking or when I feel the need for something bigger, I take this one along as well: Both blades are perfectly legal to carry here in Germany.

CRKT Ashworth Turtle. It isn't a weapon, so no problem anywhere/anywhen. Most common use is cutting packaging.

Anywhere on that turtle? Really? Even airport security?

Not answering for Timo, but I'm reminded of a trip to Kings Dominion a few years back, going through the security check at the gates, forgetting I had a tiny multitool and a Gerber Artifact on my keyring. They had to remove the little multitool, because it was a "weapon" according to them, but nobody so much as took a second look at the Artifact. Similar multitool: www.keychaintools.com/Sheffield_ ... ti12-1.htm (I wish mine was that robust) Artifact: www.gerbergear.com/Essentials/To ... t_22-41770 I'm sure neither would have gotten through the TSA, though. Do they even allow keys on flights anymore? :? That turtle's a weird looking little thing, but seems handy.

I don't carry a knife every day but more often than not I have one of two 3" fixed blades. I've had em several years so they've been well and truly abused, with a few nicks and a million scratches between them. Working knives that have seen a lot of wood and gut, so I keep them up to standard with some small dry stones. Helle Fjellkniven.Triple laminated carbon and stainless steel, nice curly birch handle. Doesn't really need a paracord wrap but I prefer it whilst wearing gloves or in the wet. Bought this one in Norway for a hunting trip. Karesuando Hunter. Same as first in practical use but with a bit brass and some reindoor horn inlay. I like these simple all-round blades and not one for tacticool designs. I've lost this one more times than I can remember but it keeps coming back. Got this one in Finland. Still going strong. Up 'ere in the Prince Bishops there's a lot to do outdoors... to the point I don't even worry about travelling with a knife. Everyone around here has shotguns anyway. Thankfully, the media driven killer knife sensation hasn't come this far north yet and a man can still go about his business without getting an ASBO or having his special place touched in the local plod. I'd like to carry my FS more often but truth be told it's not very useful in woodland and I don't want to trash the engraved blade doing menial tasks. I'll save it for the bandits once the guys with katanas have dried up.

Given that they prohibit metal nail files, badminton racquets, corkscrews, crochet needles, and more, not being a weapon won't save it there. But that's not an EDC issue, that's a special case. Neither can I take it into an MRI scanner, ditto.
Over here, legally, it's a knife, but it's something one carries for utility purposes, rather than as a weapon. As our Weapons Act says, "A person must not physically possess a knife in a public place or a school, unless the person has a reasonable excuse", "A person may carry a pen knife or swiss army knife for use for its normal utility purposes" and "In deciding what is a reasonable excuse for subsection (1), regard may be had, among other things, to whether the way the knife is held in possession, or when and where it is held in possession, would cause a reasonable person concern that he or she, or someone else in the vicinity, may be threatened or harmed".
A Swiss army knife would be fine, too, but the turtle is cuter.

I also lean toward a 3"-ish blade. I tend to switch back and forth between my Kershaw Cryo, Kershaw Leek, Benchmade Mini-Griptilian and Spyderco Dragonfly 2. All of those are really superb for a smaller EDC knife.

I'd like to see a gen4 Wayne Goddard . Wouldn't that be cool. I have a gen2 WG, meaning FRN handle but no Boyle detent cutout on the lock release. Here are a gen1 endura (top), gen2 WG (middle) and gen4 (endura)

Don't know if you would call it a 4 gen WG, a officer I work with has one of the newer one's. Flat ground blade instead of hollow ground. It is a good solid knife. Been thinking about getting a Benchmake Mini Onslaught to see it can repalce the WG.
So far after a lot of years my WG is still going strong. No loosest in the blade at all, I've throw it a few times.

Pretty much what I carry everyday. A bit excessive but I have no reason for them if I keep them at home. Plus they don't weight too much either so it's not like it's a burden
