That should be quite an interesting piece, looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Thanks Voltan, I am quite excited about this. I never did come up with a sword hilt design for the blade that I really liked; the spear haft Talon came up with is an excellent alternative and something I don't think I would have thought of. Should be a very tough cutter and stabber. Fallen is also trying to talk me into a dagger version of the blade - which of course is a rather easy thing to talk me into

Wow, I'm liking the lines of that, can't wait to see it closer to completion. A dagger with that style? Ooooh man. That might be something I just have to see!

Might I suggest aiming for a 5' haft, from a balance point of view, there is a lot of blade there, it is easier to shorten it a little than make a complete new haft.

I'll be playing around with the length before I make a decision on it. will need to get an idea of how the counterweight will affect things, balance, etc.

We've talked about using a trailer hitch ball here before I can see them coming in very handy as a good starting point for all kinds of pommels.

Looking good Chris&Fallen, I'll be interested to see how this progresses. Will the tip be as spatulate when the grinding is finished?
Didn't Greg make a pommel from a trailer hitch ball before? IIRC, it turned out great.

A bit of thread derail (hope you don't mind Chris).here's Greg's trailer pommel thread. viewtopic.php?f=18&t=4456I miss Greg posting,he always came up with some fun wacky builds like his pvc bow .The facets on your pommel are looking great. It's shaping up to be a very classy build.

Mine's the same way. Too busy to get to cleaning- when I have time I use it to make stuff, not clean

Yeah, mine's just as dirty looking, metal dust and worn out sandpaper everywhere.
Anyway, that'll be a good looking blade. Cool project!
