Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone knew where to find good quality, useable swords that mimic the appearance of any of the weapons or armor in LOTR or The Hobbit. I love the stories and would like to add functional replicas of the weapons to my collection. I dont have a lot of money to throw at it but if anyone knows where I could find weapons from the movies (or influenced from them) I would love to know where to look.
THanks!

darksword-armory.com/tagged/lord ... ngs-sword/ not the highest quality functional swords around and many on this forum are of a mind that they're overpriced. They're definitely a lot heavier than historical swords which can be a concern when it comes to handling. However they're one of the few functional lord of the rings swords in the production market. If you've got a bit more cash I would recommend the Christian Fletcher Borderwatch christianfletcher.com/Christian_ ... watch.html The sword design is inspired by Aragorn's ranger sword. The blade used is an Albion's Crecy, and is by most accounts one of the best (if not the best) longswords in the production market.

you wont find very nice function lotr swords that arnt custom made. i would say the best bet in a budget price range are the museum collection sting and glamdring. they are simi-functional i think you can find some reviews on here. also the licensed uruk-hai sword is full tang and i think 1040 carbon steel
i would just find blank blades and get teh fittings made by yeshuas swords

Thanks for the replies!
I am trying to avoid united cutlery at all costs as I have been lead to believe that their productions are not full tang but instead include a "rat-tail."
As for DSA, I have checked them out substantially and have come to the conclusion that if I cannot find anything else anywhere, I'll be looking in to getting one. I really just want durability and functionality, it matters not to me the weight, balance, and overall realistic nature of the sword.
Thanks again

Sure thing, and to each his own.
But for me (and for most people who get into the hobby) the "weight, balance, and overall realistic nature of the sword" becomes pretty synonymous with "functionality." Just a head's up concerning your priorities when it comes to buying swords. I've been infinitely more pleased with a plain-looking Atrim, Hanwei/Tinker, or Valiant Armory Practical that handled well than I've ever been with a really cool-looking sword that doesn't have realistic weight and balance. When you hold a good sword, in the words of Peter Johnsson, you stand up straighter and feel a little taller. It's a magical thing.
This is why I sold all my old LOTR swords and own a Christian Fletcher Borderwatch, and why I plan to get a custom by Fableblades. And why I don't want a DSA.
