www.amazon.com/Celtic-Sword/dp/B ... is+cutlery I am undecided how I feel about this one. Not real fond of the pommel pics but I'm tempted and it is close to xmas....

i like it. pommel and all. i don't think it looks bad, just wonder if the disk style pommel might dig the hand while handling. all in all i think it looks better than most other production celtic style swords.

Yeah, the pommels cool. I am wondering if the half circle flanges are actually riveted to the blade. It does look nice.

LOL. Fortunately I have the previous one. I like this one as well, just wondering about the hilt construction.

i can't tell if they are real rivets or not , it sure would be cool if it was tho. looking at it more the center one almost looks like a nut . hmmm now I'm getting tempted .

Well, those photos at least are hideous... it honestly looks like somebody got their grade school kid to do the editing.
Not sure if I like the fit between hilt and blade. There seems to be quite a bit of space, there.

These are most likely made in the Chinese forge KC is now using for their swords unlike the first version which I believe was made of 5160 in the Philippines. I've read that the new blades are fairly tough but so far the fittings on the katana seem cheap and common. If this guard is really riveted however, I imagine it would be a very tough sword

The KC product desc refers to "five large rivet-like protrusions", so not real rivets.

Has anyone purchased one of these over the 6 months or so since the original post? I agree. It reminds me of Perseus' sword from the original "Clash of the Titans". I'm wondering how well this sword would cut tatami...
