As huge fan of Spartacus show, I always wanted this famous sword used by Crixus in the arena. Spartacus official auctions got some versions but it sell high for mostly robber or hard foam Swords. We get a COA from the studio but we never know if it was really ''screen used''. Production made for sure but screen used I dont know. www.ebay.com/itm/SPARTACUS-CRIXU ... 2a33bd04eb I found this nice alternative from Deepeeka ... this sword really look like the one used by Crixus ! ... for 60$ ! kultofathena.com/images/AH3116_l.jpgWhat do you think ? Just like Kris Cutlery Celtic Sword looks the one used by the tracians at the beginning of Blood and Sand...

I believe these are civil war swords not ancient designs.

Just do a search on EBay for artillery sword. Plenty to choose from.

agree, but this Artilleryman's Short Sword looks a bit out of place in the 19th century, but was deliberately made to mimic the Ancient Roman Gladius. Swords of this type, sometimes called 'Cabbage Choppers' saw service during the American Civil war as well as in Europe. This type of sword was usually reserved for artillerymen, and was really a weapon of last resort.

Well, artillery and musicians. None of whom found much - if any - use for it in combat, although apparently it served well enough as a machete. The original design was French, BTW, from 1816 (so yeah, very neoclassical). And nowadays these things see a lot of use in theater and movies because they're cheap, easy to find and look sort of Classical Roman-ish from a distance, Spartacus being one good example.
