My brother wants a leaf blade sword, my mother is concerned about a live blade. bit of a catch-22 for Xmas. He especially likes the Cobra Steel Lakonia. so my question is this, what sword would be a close enough blunt replcement? Leaf blade, similar shape, and safe enough for a parent who is not satisfied in my ability to keep him safe?

Yeah, an unsharpened Windlass "Spartan Lakonian" (blech - seriously, that's like calling a gladius "Roman Italian") should be a good compromise.

Another similar option might be the Del Tin Gladius Hispaniensis.

The closest thing to a leaf blade in off-the-rack trainers I know of would be Cold Steel's polypropylene gladius.
