For some reason, none of the longclaw designs out there felt right. I just hated the wolf head pommels on all of them, they just felt like a tacky afterthought :/ Also this is a sword that's deeply ingrained in the northern culture. It's not a bastard sword, it's a mythical dark age sword that's built like a bastard sword, so let's try to make it look like the part! Anyway here's what I ended up with I tried to disguise the wolf head as a sort of fishtail pommel. The knotwork on the guard is a bit vague since knotwork isn't really my strong suit Hope you guys like it Attachments:

I like it. I would like a straight grip and would round off the pointy parts of the pommel.
Nice design!

Great drawing Lemuel, what is the OAL?, blade looks similar to a Viceroy so might need to smooth those two downward spikes or your back hand will catch, overall thought is it looks great, from the side looks almost like a large wolf / panther, guard works too.

Yup, it's based on the Viceroy. What does OAL stand for again?.. :? Nope, if anyone feels like commissioning my design, go for it! It'll be some years before I can afford to have a complete custom sword made for me.

OAL = over all length

Ah right! OAL: roughly 46 inches, blade length: 36 inches.
I'm still playing around with the design of the grip, and I might adapt the blade to be more of a leaf blade.

Completely sempriniin. Can I say that? I really like it. Soooo much better than that crapper on the tv series.

Didn't they change the tv series Longclaw between seasons ?

I'm pretty sure it's stayed the same throughout...

Agreed. This design is equal to the Fable blades version IMO.

Just saw this. Very cool! Would be great to make - certainly possible. A couple of practical considerations like uncomfrotable corners on the grip area, but with some small amendments it could be sorted right out. I imagine the ferrules at each end of the grip, and the carved centre spacer in a nice timber, with leather wrapped main sections of the grip. Jeffrey could kill the guard and pommel. The blade is fine, except I'd ditch the flats extending up around the centre fuller and just keep the flats to the ricasso. Kind of like my Vivere Verus / Fiain Croi blades. My only other concern is narrowness of the tang at the shoulder given the heaviness of the blade. I'd want the tang at least an inch across there, so the grip junction would need to be around 1.4" (35mm)

Man, I dunno Brendan...that hexagonal geometry is sexy. Agreed about the grip ferrules, though. Looks good, but also painful.
Gorgeous design, though.
