Nice that they are producing an official replica for those that desire it. I was always disappointed with the show's version, though.

Yeh... its butt ugly and I don't trust those guys for functional swords. I've seen some awesome Longclaws from Fable Blades, Jeffery Robbinson, and Rick Barret. Would love one of those... have no interest in this.

Fableblades Longclaw any day of the week. www.fableblades.com/Longclaw.htmlIt's it shallow of me to admit that one of the reasons I haven't gotten into this show as much as my friends want me to (or assume I will) is because I don't find the sword designs attractive? ...Yea. Yea it is. Show's still totally badass, I just get really hung up on how the swords could be better.

hmm, you guys have a point. I remember thinking it looked kind of tacky the first time I watched it but it's definitely grown on since (probably as the shows grown on me).

Different sword. This one is based on the show, but their damascus version is also a limited edition. You could argue its worth a buy from an investment perspective since you could end up selling it for over twice its value!

perhaps but not an investment for me this one is a new design (from the same company) but the eBay one is their 1st edition they released over a year or so ago based on the tv series. I bet if this one sells out aswell there might be a 3rd edition. www.valyriansteel.com/shop/sword ... rod_5.html

This. I got into the show (only reason I stopped watching is because they are are further in the show than I am in the books, and I'd rather read the books first), but have found every sword design so far to be...not very attractive.

So far, the ones that impressed me the most were:
The sword Ned Stark used to behead the Night's Watch deserter in the first episode, and the sword the Mountain used to behead the horse during The Hand's tournament.

Ordered the non-damascus one. Like the show and figured for 250 what the heck? And no it isnt very attractive. At the very least it will make cool accessory to a ren faire costume

Alexander, Are you planning to post anything in the acquisitions thread when you receive the longclaw?? I'd love to see some pics and get your impressions. I wouldnt mind hanging one on the wall if it's a truly functional piece.

the $250 one is stainless steel i believe, so nope not functional

The one I ordered non-limited is made of stainless. The limited is made of "high carbon damascus" but that still doesnt mean its functional. So wasn't going to spend $600 when it could be just as useless as the $250 one. I'm not a fan of buying just wall hangers but at times not much option.

Guys, if this sword resells for close to what the original run sold for, I'd buy it, hang on to it for about a year, and sell it for to get a 50% down payment on one of Brenno's longclaws. The book versions we're selling for upwards of $1200, SELLING, after they were discontinued.

I thought about that too at first but the stainless not being limited will I think keep the price down.

I paid my book version of longclaw 200$ in january 2012. Re-sold 13 months later for 2149$ I usually dont re-sell anything from my collection but for this price, it was a good investment Maybe I will buy the HBO version, just to fill the hole left ... in my heart !
