I have an ATrim LPM longsaber. I like it so much I ordered a single hander that should be getting finished any day now. I'm of a like mind on the remounting. I'm in line with Christian Fletcher to add knuckle rings to my longsaber and make a scabbard. And I have been thinking about a basket guard of some type for the single hand saber. As far as the blades go, they are outstanding. There is some weight there, but they just seem to float and move like a lightsaber. And they cut just about the same...phenomenal!

I'm not sure how inexpensively you can get it done for. I have a single-hand saber near delivery from Gus. I am pretty firm about putting a baskethilt on it. I'm likely going with a basket from Darkwood Armory. Most likely the English Baskethilt, either the 1580 ($210) or the 1600 ($170). Haven't contacted them yet, and I haven't discussed this with Gus yet either. I intend on doing both before I get the single-hand saber.

Darkwood will be a good relatively inexpensive option. If you are looking for an Albion or A&A quality basket, Darkwood would not be the best choice (more of a "munitions" look to them), but the baskets are very well made and good-looking in a rugged way. I would recommend getting the blued hilt option. I went with the bare steel and it takes more maintenance time. Scott is now offering quite a variety of basket hilts, some of which are pictured in the curved blade section of the site.

I always wonder if the blades from Darkwood are blunted for practices and reenactment only or can you you get a sharpen blade, because I am looking for a English baskethilt sword. It would be cool if I could have two blades(blunted and sharpened) for the same basket, one for partner training and the other for solo drills and test cutting. I also like Trim's English baskethilt sword. www.angustrimdirect.com/models/unamed_31/unamed_31_600w.jpg

I think Scott can do sharps. He seems pretty open to trying different things, so it's worth a try.
The basket hilts on Angus' site are made by E.B. Erickson, a top artisan amongst modern basket hilt makers. He has many satisfied customers that frequent myArmoury.

It only took about 15 minutes for Scott to answer my email today. He said he's done guards and pommels for ATrims before and suggested I send him the blade when I get it so he can ensure the fit is perfect. I am pretty much settled on this project now. One of his English Baskethilt guards and pommels on a single hand saber should be SWEET.

ShooterMike that does SWEET. Show some pictures when you get your sword back from Scott.
Did you only order the blade, or did you buy the whole sword from Gus ?

Jonathan Thank you for the info Jonathan I also like the Mortuary sword on Armour Class. Do you know of any other sites that sales English baskethilts or mortuary swords that are in $300sub or $500sub?

I suggest emailing him at sales@angustrimdirect.com and ask him anything you want to know. He's a friendly guy and has always been very helpful.
