I share your sentiments. I was attacked by 2 guys in my own home with baseball bats for something I had nothing to do with. I had no weapon and was at their mercy "or lack thereof". I put up a good fight but ultimately was saved by a neighbor calling the cops after their first visit that night when they were just yelling and banging on my door. Took the cops a hour to respond even tho it was 2 AM in a sleepy town. luckily their second 'visit" (when they actually got in) was minutes before the cops arrived after the first complaint. Guys ran and the FAT COP never even came up to ask questions. I no longer rely on AUTHORITIES to protect me and as a result of this incident I bought my first sword.

I apologize to "Most" of you if I came across as rude... I know I haven't posted on this forum much, but I have been reading the threads. I suppose some of my irritation comes across due to my easily being irritated by people who always think they know something about everything and always have to have something to say... even when it's obvious that they just like hearing their own voice / reading their own text. I have been in a mental hospital for ptsd... I lost alot of friends protecting the rights of my country's citizens. So enjoying a little pay back is human nature... unless you are a coward, openly or not.... they had good grape juice. The basic point was if someone breaks into my home, ( and it's happened before ) They better be faster than I am and know the layout of my home... if not, I guess I'll sleep comfortable knowing that my wife is at least alive to complain about the blood on the floor and the late night with the police. That guy lived so no crying on your keyboard whiny smurf. Once again, my apologies and please don't think this is indicative of my normal internet etiquette.... alcohol was involved. Much better put, karma for you!

I never relied on the law or the local authorities. It is the way I was raised.

Shouldn't are priority here be forcing the police to do their job instead of complaining about it ;D?

the problem is , the only way we could rely on government authorities 100% would be to give up 100% of our rights. No more privacy rights, bans or supervision on anything that could be used as a weapon, constant surveillance. I prefer to live in as free a world as I can and if that means living in an unsecure world I would sooner deal with that than being monitered and controlled 24/7.

"The only way we could rely on government authorities 100 percent would be to give up 100 percent of our rights ?" I worked for the government for 25 years, so I'll assume that that was a typographical error, or I just didn't understand it. Don't give them your rights, make them take them.

We would all need to be under 24/7 surveillance. not to mention the number of police officers would have to be astronomical, constantly on patrol, you know Big Brother type stuff. not the kind of world I wanna live in. Im not taking a shot at the government here, just stating that its almost imposible to keep the general public safe without taking drastic measures. Look at the UK, sword bans, cameras on every street corner...thats only the beginning. So in the mean time making laws that prevent us from fighting back against violent attack is ludicrous. Age old quote, "take weapons from us and only criminals will have them." I would rather live by the laws of nature than the laws of man.

I would rather live in survival than in civility.

anyway I personally agree with this "Castle Doctrine". If someone attemps to harm me or another then said person forfiets their own personal safety. Too bad we dont have that law here C'mon to the good old U S of A and move to a state that has the C.D. Heck, Michigan should be just a short hop across the border for ya! ;D

I dont think I could ever leave my beloved Canada, but more than likely we'll be annexed into the USA anyway.....kinda like the English did to the Scottish.....have you seen our army?!? but we northern barbarians will give ya a good fight! JK *edit* a few years back we had a few chopper go down in the sea...we then bought some Labrodor helicopters... not long after i was watching a stand up comic talkin about it...."Why couldnt we buy something with a cool name like the Eagle, or the Hawk?...instead we spend a few million bucks on a chopper named after a dumb animal that cant wait to plunge head-first into the water."

In countries where the banning of weapons and things has taken effect and the citizens have no rights or privacy, the criminals are having an even easier time of things than ever. Weapon bans help no one but those who practice iniquity. What would have to happen for us to be safe is for military law to be instigated and the military to go through and wipe out all the criminals and take all the weapons from everywhere and then the military becomes the enemy. There is no answer, citizens should be allowed to defend themselves and their families and homes.

i agree with that. Corruption and the will to dominate others is a part of humankind that cannot be eradicated. there will always be violence so yeah we should be allowed to protect ourselves.

There are plenty of items in the home that can be used defensively. Most are quite innocuous.
