Hey I need some opinions and options on what sword to get, I'm trying to stay under $300. The reason I want a modern/tactical sword is because I want something a little more durable and rust resistant that I could use if the SHTF. So far I am looking at the Rodent Rucki, or the Zombie Tools Zakasushi, which is a little more than I want to pay. The Rucki is more of a straight blade which kinda turns me away from it, but I am willing to overlook that. I am trying to keep it a single edge style sword as you can tell. Right now I'm leaning towards the Rucki right now.... Are there any more tactical style swords similar to those, to that I am missing? If its not utilitarian then it probably won't hold up in real life use, that's my motto anyways...Thanks for your help!!!!

But I am also very intrigued by the Busse Gladius, are there any blades similar to it in my price range? Thanks again!

The Hanwei Tac Wakizashi comes to mind, plasma-coated blade for rust resistance and in your price range.

You can always duracoat a blade. You could do epoxy coating like my ka-bar. Some type of cutlass might be a good choice.

Honestly in your price range I truly believe Fallen can hook you up with a wicked tactical sword. I would be all over this new one of his if I didn't just buy another sword from him last week. viewtopic.php?f=3&t=18085Blade: steel 1084, length 16 1/2in 5 1/2in sharp back edge, width at front belly 2 1/2in, at waist 1 5/8in. thickness:3/16in Full flat grind Handle: Wenge wood 6in long held on with 3 brass pins and epoxy. Overall length: 22 3/4in. Weight: 22 1/2oz. Price $250.00 What did I buy? The Zombie Slayer Short Sword! -maybe he'll make another one. He also will do custom work if it fits his style.

I don't know what to call the sword zombie tools makes it's not a wakizsahi style sword.

a cold steel machete would be my suggestion not really a sword but seems to be more suited to what you want or an hanwei tactical wakizashi if you must have a sword
if you want a cheap version of the takwak there is a good knock off of one made by munetoshi at swordnarmory but you would have to take onimusha's advice and duracoat the blade if you go that route

This might be as close as you could get to a Busse Gladius for $300: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=18064Otherwise, your original thoughts of the Rodent Ruki or ZT 'Zakusushi' seem to be what your looking for around this price range. Of the two, I would choose the Rodent Ruki.

Why would you prefer the Rucki? I was ,earning towards the Zakasushi...I just wish it wasn't so expensive....

For $300, given what you want, I'd touch base with some of the smiths here. I bet one of them could make you a sword that not only would hold up to real life use, but would be one of a Kind, unique even.
For that price you might even be able to get the blade etched with some phrase or design. Or that might be a bit more money, I don't know. It wouldn't hurt to check with them. A few guys have posted blades recently that look dam cool and aren't overpriced like some companies are charging.

Honestly, I don't know much about these two swords, but here's my reasoning: -The Rucki has the more traditional wakizashi look, micarta grips, and is smaller (easily carried). It also has a coated blade for corrosion resistance. -The Zakasushi is more non-traditional in appearance, has a leather-wrapped grip (less durable in apocalyptic situation), no blade coating as far as I know, and I'm not sure if it has a skeletonized tang or not (have seen this on at least one ZT sword). Plus, I just personally think it's butt-ugly, but admittedly I think the same of most ZT blades. From what I've seen, both of these swords should be very durable and I think you'll be happy with either one. And really, the ZT only costs $25 more, so not that much more expensive.

I know about the ZT sword its a full tang and is coated... and comes with a kydex sheath... unlike the ruck.....which is like another $70 on a sheath......the only downside is ZT takes 15 weeks just to finish your sword....not get it to you.... so I have to save up the money...however long that takes. ......then wait 15 weeks......

The ZT does sound like a good deal with the scabbard, so I guess it comes down to what's more important to you between these two swords - time or money? Always a fun decision to make, since you'll be a winner either way. Even better is figuring a way out to afford a second sword, just to hedge your bets. Let us know what you wind up getting GoldenDragon!

You'know one thing you can do with with a sword since it's carbon is parkarize it,not entirely rust proof but a good bit tougher then a plain steel blade.
Go to Scorpion Swords Chris has a few swords that might meet your needs...
