I made this shield two years ago and it's already been sold, but I decided to share it anyway. It's made of birch. There is a metal band around the shield. The metal band is made of an old saw blade. Decoration is carved with chisel. On the back of the shield there are leather straps, but unfortunately I couldn't find any pictures of them... Here's a picture of the shield: It's the only shield I've ever made, and I really enjoyed decorating it! Though my decorations would probably get smashed to bits if the shield was ever used. Thank you. Attachments:

Thank you good sir! I spent most of the time chiseling the convex shape to the shield and now I'm not even sure if it can be seen from the picture. The shield is probably too thick because it's quite heavy and it's only 60cm(24 inch) in diameter, but I wanted it to be durable. It was made as a functional(ish) shield but the buyer bought it as an art piece, so it's luckily just hanging on the wall and looking pretty.

Ingenious use of foreground/background. Extremely impressive, even as a concept. A stained version of this with perhaps some highlighting on the rim and stuff would be quite the mantlepiece...
