I'm guessing its one of these? www.darksword-armory.com/armor.htmlHow do you plan to use them? Display or fighting? If you plan to use them to fight, make sure the are returnable if they turn out to be uncomfortable. Gauntlets are one of the harder pieces of armor to get a good fit. You will need padded gloves on the inside to fight. Make sure you can bend your wrist all the way back and that your fingers are not slipping out. Make sure you have solid thumb protection. With gauntlets it us usually recommended that you go to a fair in full armor and try them on. The cuffs go hight and are narrow. You may have to change your vambraces to accommodate them.

From just looking at them, the two big things I would look at is that the articulation around the wrist when bending back is good enough, and that you can straighten your hand. Without a knuckle rider, it looks like it would dig in where the scales attach. Depending on what kind of fighting you are doing, check and see if scales are allowed for adequate finger protection. Also second needing the thumb pics.

Oh, I'm not going to get them. I don't have any need of gauntlets atm. However, if at some point in the future, I do get some, I'll let you know.
However, I'm sure there are places out there that sell good gauntlets for under $400. It's just a matter of finding them.
I am not talking about Ashcroft-Baker half gauntlets either, like every person in the SCA has.

I'm actually pretty impressed with the armor at Albion. First, their prices are not a rip-off, and that is amazing for them. A lot of SCA armorers actually charge a lot more (shhh, don't tell them that). Second, almost all of their armor is 16 gage. A lot of SCA armor is only 18 gage. Some is 16. Only SCA helmets are 14 and 12 gage. That comes down to economy of weight. You want to keep you rig under 40 lbs for sure. Under 30 is preferable. So it seems that Albion makes solid armor at reasonable prices. Mind you a whole suit of 16 gage is gona cost you in terms of weight. But it will last you a long time. When it comes to body armor, I think I prefer 18 gage for its lightness. You should get 2 to 4 years from that before having to replace. I think the rivets are hammer rivets but ask to be sure. Don't buy crappy pop rivets. I would like to know what the individual weight of all those Albion pieces is. If they give accurate weights I might want to put something together if I can get it close to 30 lbs. I plan to have a new suit of armor by summers end.

I just want to point out that Albion is just a vendor for Mercenary's Tailor armor. There are a few Albion Mark helmets, but the majority of wht is listed on their site can also be found at www.merctailor.com. The owner of Merc Tailor was at the NYHFA gathering in northern New Nork last summer, so if you are going this year, Tsafa, there is a chance you will be able to see their wares in person.

Tsafa, yeah I was expecting a way higher price from albion. but they look nice though. I'd like to stick to 16 guage or thicker...my spaulders are 16 and my cuirass will be 14....all my helmets are 18 though.

They're not actually made by Albion. The Mercenary Tailor stuff on the Albion site is just a leftover I think from the days when Albion was a retailer. You would want to go directly to the guys who make the stuff if you wanted to ask them any questions. I've heard they have excellent customer service as well at Merc Tailor.

Ya sory guys it's mercenary's tailor not albion - I posted the Albion link because Mr. Sennefelder in his price update post linked to it instead of his typical site - I was kind of suprised.
