I have kind of a busy weekend, but when I get some time I'll set up the materials then make some renderings and we can play around with the mats and see what you like best. Also, I can make the pommel solid if you'd like.

As promised, pics from the York Minister, however I suppose my memory is a bit fuzzy as they are not realllly too much like your sword design. Oh well!

Final coloured longsword design that I recently sent off to Ernie! He's been really busy for the last 3 months which has given me plenty of time to gravitate towards the final look. I was a bit worried that the "cheesecake" colour scheme for the grip might be a bit garish but I think it works Main grip is birdseye maple, collar is rosewood, with bronze spacers. Drawing done on MS paint. That's right. MS paint (seemed easier to use than photoshop...) Attachments:

Like others have said, that sword is very nice! Hope you enjoy it once it's in your possession.

I really dig the design. It combines five of my favorite sword design features - fish tail pommel, metal spacer in the grip, type XVIIIa blade, simple crossguard, waisted handle. I'd be curious to see what Ernie quotes you on this design...
The only thing I would change is that I am not a huge fan of bare wood grips an would get it wrapped for sure. But that's kinda like getting a date with Scarlett Johansson and then sempriniing because you didn't like the color of her nail polish....

I think you'll love the one-of-a-kind Viceroy Regent www.myarmoury.com/bill_swor_alb_regroy.htmlyup. guilty as charged, I shamelessly copied the furniture. I still have moments where I wonder whether a more traditional leather wrap would look better but I think the two toned wood grip adds character. In any case I could always get Ernie to make me a leather wrapped grip in the future I don't know if it's polite to share the exact quote in public (?) so I'll pm you.
