Why do you want them btw if you don't mind me asking. Are you into reenactments or just interested in collecting them . Hope you don't see me as rude I'm just curious.

I Hvae the Hanwei Oda Armor, im not an expert on armor so i cant give a professional opinion but i like it, only thing i did was darken the threads using diluted fabric dye. You can pick up the Hanwei Armors pretty cheap now (one recently went for $400Au on ebay)... Im saving up for one from www.samurai-store.com as a graduation present, their prices are pretty good compared to Hanwei RRp of the Dragon armor WOW ... Karma for that link and THANKS !!!!

Japanese armor is lamellar type; how strong and how well it put up against Japanese weapons like katana, yari, naginata and others, and I know it would become an unholy discussion, but how would it fare against European styled swords............

There were many types of jaanese armour - to call them all "lamellar type" is untrue. Please look at the myarmoury article.

johnnyk is definitely right. Trueswords is offering the Hanwei Oda Nobunaga for $964.99. So far it is the best price I've seen. Plus, they have the Daisho Masamune helmet for $234.99 and Daisho Kake helmet for $274.99.

Centurion that Mongolian armour looks awsome espicially the black one. .... Thanks. I'm working with these guys to make a good High Gothic set of plate armor. I'll be sure to let everyone here know how it all comes out but so far they are pretty responsive with customer service. (Maybe speaking some Russian helps) Shipping is going to be a b*tch though (300+) Now to bring the thread back to topic ..... Japanese Armor Here's another good link on the creation of functional Japanese armor and various techniques for construction. It also doubles as a nice treatise on Japanese armor in general with good detail on japanese armor parts glossary. Creating SCA legal Japanese armor. www.sengokudaimyo.com/katchu/katchu.htmlSome examples of the level of detail ... If you want more .... go visit the guy's page ... this stuff is cool

I had a chance to look at some Japanese armor recently at the MET. I was somewhat surprised that some of the armor had full mettle breast plates. Here is some Mongolian armor at the MET: That was a good link Centurian2000
