Wow, pretty impressive and really not very expensive for something you really only have to buy once. I'd say go for it!

It is highly functional, but not historical in appearance. Probably the best quality available and most effective available at about any price. But if you want it for costume purposes, look elsewhere.

I posted on this site many times about ringmesh. I bought it because it seemed so cool and I love it! It is lightweight. It feels like a wet shirt when you put it on:It tends to cling to you and weighs about the same. It is so light and flexible you can wear it under a shirt. After a minute or two you forget you have it on. As Taran said, it is in no way historical. However, it will still do as a lightweight, comfortable substitute at renn faires or the like where historical accuracy is not an issue. It's great as part of a fantasy outfit. I call it my mithril shirt. No one here has posted any testing of the protective qualities. I have not done any testing to this end as I am not willing to destroy my ringmesh at this time

This test was about 3 months in the making accounting for manufacturing time, international shipping, and finally getting around to testing. This was a 14”x6” sample of Ring Mesh’s 150. I also received 210 which appears stronger but not that much stronger so no tests were conducted. The mesh feels like it would make a comfortable garment and I can see where an re-enactor would like it and choose it over butted mail. I am not an re-enactor but was looking for something “serviceable”. I believe ring mesh would be great for LARP but I must say that it will give one a false sense of security in a zombie situation. Below is the sample of 150 after testing. I used a tea towel folded to give 8 ply in order to roughly simulate a gambeson placed on board which in turn was laid on the deck. Over which a laid the ring mesh. I did not excessively load my machete and made one strike only while in the kneeling position with no body English. The engineer bolo machete passed through the mesh, all 8 ply of towels, cutting in the board. The machete passed through the mesh like it wasn't there. I don't know whether to praise the machete or to bad mouth the mesh. I'll pass on the ring mesh at this time. Attachments:
