Here is my review of my Legacy Arms Excalibur Sword. I will go over the differences between the older Generation 2 version. I like both versions but the newer version has improvements over the previous version.
Overall length = 45 3/4"
Weight = 5lbs.
POB = 3.5" from hilt
The Pommel:
The pommel is peened on this version. It is the same size and pattern as the Generation 2 version. In my opinion it could be larger for a sword of this size. But weight would need to be taken from the guard then because the sword is heavy.
The Grip:
The grip is 9" long. It is Thick in the center and thins out at the ends. It has a very thin stainless steel cord wrapped around the handle. On the older Generation 2 Excalibur the wire was very thick and painful to swing. The thick wire stayed secured to the handle better than the thin wire but the thin wire looks better and feels better in the hand.
The Guard:
The guard is 7 1/2" long and 3/4" wide on average. It starts wide and flares on both sides. It is very heavy.
The Blade:
The blade is 34" long. It is 2" wide at the base. The fuller itself is 29" long and starts from underneath the guard. The finish on the blade comes in a more satin finish than the Generation 2 and I took it down a bit to 600 grain. It came paper cutting sharp out of the box but going in and out of the scabbard many times has made it not able to cut paper.
The Scabbard:
This scabbard is a big improvement over their last one. The leather is much better but it doesn't have incorporated suspension. The scabbard is wood core and fits the sword super tight.
Pros over the Generation 2 Excalibur:
-The wire on the grip
-Handles better
-Better temper
-Peened pommel
Cons:
-No suspension on the scabbard
Please excuse my bad technique in my video
Overall, This sword cuts flawlessly. Even with my horrible technique, I can manage to cut without issue. It is nice looking and well made!
I made another post in Fantasy Swords with my Generation 2 sword I got back from Yeshua's Sword.
Take care,
Bill
