I saw this sword in a dream and I had to draw it so I could remember it. I'm sharing it, so we can unfold the (possible)logic of my subconscious mind. I remember it had something to do with end of the "tsuka" being in straight line with ridge of the "kissaki"... Here's a quick sketch of the sword: Thank you. side note:For some reason George Lucas was introducing the sword in my dream. Not quite sure if he's an expert on the subject... He was being quite convincing though. Attachments:

Interesting looking sword. Where you drew the yokote (if that's the right word), the point, the blade seems to widen. Is that what you saw? I want to say I've seen a Tsuka shaped similarly but can't recall where. Good idea drawing it out, that's the only way I've found to remember things I've dreamed. It's an interesting design, I wonder how it handles? Would be cool to get this blade made and see how it performs.

Makes me think of dooku's lightsaber (his slopes down rather than upward) Interesting enough to look at, and with the blade that far ahead of the handle in a swing, i'd imagine it woulld cut almost effortlessly through most medium targets.

Cool sword. Reminds me of an egyptian Khopesh.

I have a slo that looks kinda like that in the handle....would give extra leverage during a cut. Cool shape...looks like a snake striking out. :-)

Thank you Valandur, Yep, blade was wider where "yokote" is. I remember I thought in a dream it was a marvelous idea. Thank you KaOsBlaKbLaDe, Dooku's light saber would explain George. Though I'm not sure I remember it from the movie. Well, I don't remember anything of that movie. Great that you can see some practical features too. Thank you John570 It reminds me of khopesh too, but also of scimitar, shamsir, katana, some African swords and some ritual swords from India. Thank you adamthedrummer I can see something snake like in it too, or probably long necked bird like crane.

you must get in contact with a good smith and have him make this sword something about it makes me think it would not just work but work well

Ernie from Yeshua sketched up a design that looks a lot line your sword. You should message him.

Its interesting looking. I like a lot of the design elements in the sword especially the blade. I used a lot of blades with curved handles myself and like them as they can provide power in the cut.
I do see a potential issue in the hilt design. In general, the first part of the hilt follows the line of the blade and the back half is the offset one. I think the way you have it will make handling tricky and possibly introduce a weakness in the tang. Try reversing the offset and see how that strikes you. The way it is now, the tang will have to be very narrow to follow the contour of the hilt; that's why the first part of the hilt normally follows the line of the blade. You can have a wide tang that gradually narrows or curves to follow the rest of the handle. I'm not sure how you could do the tang as drawn without it being dangerously narrow for the first part.
For an example of what I mean about reversing the offset, look at the handle of the first blade in my signature.

Thank you everyone, I started to carve the "Strange sword from a strange dream" from plywood! It's still quite crude, but I'm so glad I can hold an 3D object in my hand. It's so much easier to understand how the shape works. I'm going to finish it later, but here's a pic of it while it's still unfinished: I know that there are many ways to make the design more functional, but I'm trying to stay true to what I remember from the dream. Though I find discussing about the sword's potential functional properties really interesting! The wooden version already gives me some positive vibes. Of course if it were made of steel, it would feel very different. We'll see how it turns out! Attachments:

Lookin good, but I agree the tang will be challenging, and very difficult to dissassemble, perhaps having a handle moulded to it from a high strength material?? Will be awesome to see it completed regardless of the challenges. :-)

Some progress: I'd probably make the handle of wooden panels. I remember, in my dream the sword had some kind of strange metal structure around the handle. I tried to sketch it in the picture on the original post. I think it would hold the handle together. Next I'll probably carve some details in it with a Dremel. ...and probably paint it.

Wow... looks great! Looks like it'll be an awesome/fast cutter as well with the tsuka shape.

Very, very good! a most interesting design, have you considered making a real one?
Almost looks like something from a ninja anime.

Thank you, It's almost 45 inches long so it probably wouldn't be the weapon of choice for a real ninja... But for anime ninja I could add 5 inches more. I don't have the skills to make functional swords nor the money to pay for a real smith. I could probably make a wall hanger version of steel with angle grinder... but it's probably not worth it. If anyone happens to make a functional version of my design, please let me know how it works!

Sounds just like the kind of project one might get done from Sinoswords or Huawei and at reasonable cost. Just sayin'... EDIT: Hmm... looking at it, I can see a way of making that tsuka, and making the fittings work as well. Not like a regular katana, but definitely doable whilst having structural integrity.
