The first one was entertaining. The second one gave me some ideas about future SCA melees. I liked how they went into battle with both spear and bastardsword and swiched as the range shortened.

The man in the red tights is incredibly skilled, I think. The man in the hakama is as well.
Karma!

Just to keep things on the up and up, I just want to be sure you guys know that even the second vid is staged. You can tell the sequences have been rehearsed because in many instances the strikes are anticipated.
Just to give and example, at 2:10 the thrust over the guys left shoulder is anticipated. The guy commits himself to a full lunge to the right to avoid the spear before the spear has even began to move. At 2:13 the murder stroke and block is also timed. The guy doing the murder stroke slows down to meet the other guys block. In general if you can clearly see the stick movement, they are moving at half speed.
Given their armor and equipment, I am absolutely sure these guys do plenty of free-style sparring. I wish they would post some vids of that. The purpose of this vid is to demonstrate proper techniques, which it does well, but I also want to see some real fighting from these skilled guys.

The sparring vid is very good. Gives me a better idea of how they fight in actual combat. I can judge their use of distance, timming, movement as well as weapon techique.
It is important to point out what are sparring vids and what are staged demos. I lot of people who don't drill or sparr can't tell. The word demo is often used very loosely. They use the word demo in the SCA and in the MSR even when the fighting is real. They use it to mean a demonstration of what they do. So demo does not equal "staged".
Again, thanks for posting the sparring vid.

Good point Tsafa Didn't really think about that, next time I will make it clear if it's free sparring or if it staged.
