OK... who has $1200 to spare? This is a very good deal for a custom John Lundemo Kilij! www.kultofathena.com/product.asp?item=POJLSI might be wrong, but the pics really close to Aslan posted on SFI 5 years ago... Maybe this is the same sword? www.swordforum.com/forums/showth ... kish-kilij I just bought a saber last week so I'm trying not too overstretch my budget... but the thought of ready stock, custom John Lundemo Kilij is very tempting! Somebody please buy this beauty ASAP!

Oh, hello... Wait, $1200? Well, nice meeting you. Looks like a match to me, but yikes, that's 4x my available assets. Wonder what brought this fellow to sell/trade it? Probably a better one. :x

Oh my. That is SUPER nice. I can't justify it now, but I know I'm going to regret it when it's sold and gone. Opportunities like that don't just come along every day.
Someone tell ShooterMike, STAT!

Too bad it is not a style I collect. Oh yeah - cannot spare the cash anyway.

I think ShooterMike is (or will be) busy playing with his Mike's Pikula Kilij... but having 2 kilij from high end custom maker can't hurt!

I don't know for sure if it is the same one, but outside of the different colored scabbard, there are some subtle differences detectable.
Immediately above the termination of the fuller, the transition of blade spine to yelman looks a little different. A more defined point or hump on the KOA example vs the SFI example. If you look at the point of the cross guard that protrudes into the grip panel, the fit between the two examples appears to be different.
There again, the feathered grain feature running from the first handle rivet rearward to the second rivet seems to be the same in both pictures.
A mystery.................

Yeah, this...is very interesting. When I commissioned my Bayazid II Kilij, John was the first sword maker I approached. He recommended Michael Pikula, who was 2nd on my call list. I don't think he wanted to be tied to reproducing a historic piece. But this one is almost a dead ringer for the Bayazid sword, at least from the few photos I've seen. So yeah...this is very tempting. But I am about to have to pay off the Pikula commission. So the money is not available for this. Though in the future...I do have two hands, so maybe two kilijs would be in order. And this is less than half the price of an antique in good condition.
