The description doesnt give much technical information about the sword, only length and weight. And it says the blade is "handsmithed/forged". So i asked the vendor about the steel used and the Rockwell Hardness. The blade is made of 1060 Kohlenstoffstahl (Carbon Steel in english, im not sure?) and has HRC 45.
You can buy it dull in "silver" or "black" style, for an extra fee they will sharpen it for you. The sword +sharpening would cost me 118€uro, thats around 165$ i think.
Does anyone has expierience with that sword? Maybe tested it on Tatami, Phonebooks, Bottles, little brother, whatever...? Some advices about that sword would be nice, because i think i fell in love with the appearance of the blade, even if its not a "historical correct replica".
you should wait i heard from clyde at generation 2 swords that windlass is making version and it will be available very soon i think this febuary i also think kult of athena has the same sword that your looking at for a better price
Well, thanks for the information so far. I looked on that site Titan advised me to, and now im totally confused. I found 3 swords there: - an official licensed replica - 130$ - an unofficial one, stated from the vendor as "battle ready" - 100$ - another unofficial replica - only 50$ O.o www.kultofathena.com/300.htm
All of them are made of carbon steel. I tried to compare the 3 swords from kultofathena with the replica i found in the german shop i posted above. Seems that it is the same like KoA's 50$ blade... Does that mean the sword from the german shop will shatter into thousand pieces when i try to cut some waterbottles with it ? ^^; Because of a loose sword hilt? Whats the difference between them.. im confused sorry
hey man im sorry didnt mean to confuse you just point you in the direction of a site you can find a good deal at the sword that is listed battle ready made by a company named deepeeka they are out of india and they make some battle-ready and some wall hangers i would contact the vendor about that sword as fro the other two the official version i have never heard of being battle ready even though it has a carbon steel blade and the other one looks just like the one on that german site just less priced you might also want to try www.realarmorofgod.com they have some more swords of that style there that they claim are battle-ready or you can wait around for windlass to come out with there version that should be ok
hey all i thought you might like to see the new spartan sword that windlass is coming out with in december its on realarmorofgod.com its going for 195.00 its full tang carbon steel steel fittings and its peened check it out i think we have a winner

You can review yours for us liquifex. Lots of close up pics. I cant believe how few vendors take adequate photos of their swords. *Ahem* I said "I cant believe how few vendors take adequate photos of their swords."
It would be good if Paul destroyed one, but I doubt he really wants to wreck every sword he gets. Poor fella.
I know, you would think vendors would take the time to at least provide decent pictures!
AoV will add it to our long list of things to do. There are probably only a few 100 swords on their website. ;D
You are right, and that is why we are gradually going above and beyond just pictures, but also various tests. It will take some time, especially since many swords are discontinued shortly after they are reviewed.
RufusScorpius: I don't like the traditional large German beer steins: the beer gets warm and flat by the time you get halfway through it. Probably OK for the English because they like warm beer (UK refrigerators are made by Lucas Electric)
