Hello there! I found a nice looking blade form the movie "300" in this German Online Store(yes im from Germany, thats why ) www.swords-and-more.com/shop/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/3113The description doesnt give much technical information about the sword, only length and weight. And it says the blade is "handsmithed/forged". So i asked the vendor about the steel used and the Rockwell Hardness. The blade is made of 1060 Kohlenstoffstahl (Carbon Steel in english, im not sure?) and has HRC 45. You can buy it dull in "silver" or "black" style, for an extra fee they will sharpen it for you. The sword +sharpening would cost me 118€uro, thats around 165$ i think. Does anyone has expierience with that sword? Maybe tested it on Tatami, Phonebooks, Bottles, little brother, whatever...? Some advices about that sword would be nice, because i think i fell in love with the appearance of the blade, even if its not a "historical correct replica". Thanks in advance oh and excuse my bad english hehe

Welcome to the forum. It's always nice to have more international members. I don't know what your talking about with "bad english", because it seems better then that of many who claim to speak it! ;D
As for the 300 sword, I don't have any personal experience with it, but 45 Rockwell hardness seems kinda soft to me. Guys? Most medieval swords have a hardness of around 53.
Anyone else have any opinions or info?
Again, welcome to the forum. If you have any questions, feel free to ask, and don't be afraid to contribute. ;D

I think truth be known 45 - 48 is most common among our price range. Claims of 53 may be unsubstantiated marketing.

Not true. Many medieval words were well under 40.

Well, thanks for the information so far. I looked on that site Titan advised me to, and now im totally confused. I found 3 swords there: - an official licensed replica - 130$ - an unofficial one, stated from the vendor as "battle ready" - 100$ - another unofficial replica - only 50$ O.o www.kultofathena.com/300.htmAll of them are made of carbon steel. I tried to compare the 3 swords from kultofathena with the replica i found in the german shop i posted above. Seems that it is the same like KoA's 50$ blade... Does that mean the sword from the german shop will shatter into thousand pieces when i try to cut some waterbottles with it ? ^^; Because of a loose sword hilt? Whats the difference between them.. im confused sorry

hey man im sorry didnt mean to confuse you just point you in the direction of a site you can find a good deal at the sword that is listed battle ready made by a company named deepeeka they are out of india and they make some battle-ready and some wall hangers i would contact the vendor about that sword as fro the other two the official version i have never heard of being battle ready even though it has a carbon steel blade and the other one looks just like the one on that german site just less priced you might also want to try www.realarmorofgod.com they have some more swords of that style there that they claim are battle-ready or you can wait around for windlass to come out with there version that should be ok

Noooooo! For the love of all things sharp and pointy, do not, let me make that clear, DO NOT buy anything from deepeeka except possibly their khukuri. You could also try; www.globalgear.com.au, you might find their price for shipping expensive but they are very good at labelling things properly and their spartan blade is probably the only one i would trust.

The Windlass replica does indeed look promising. It's also for sale on Strongblade.

If you trust Windlass swords than you should wait for a store in Germany to get the Windlass version of the 300 Spartan sword in stock.
I have talked with one of their representatives a lot about this sword and they are taking their time to do it right.
Arms of Valor, Ltd. and nearly every other company who carries windlass will have them, so shop around for the best service and price.

That blade looks very nice, i think it convinced me Unfortunatly the shipping costs USA->Germany are waaaaaay too high(like 120$ or somethin). I guess i'll have to wait(and hope) for the release in german or european stores.

Nice. I'm grabbing one of these form your site when I get home form work That's the first time I've seen a sharpening option for the Windlass versions. I'm sold. EDIT: I'm thinkin' Paul should review one of these *smirks*

You can review yours for us liquifex. Lots of close up pics. I cant believe how few vendors take adequate photos of their swords. *Ahem* I said "I cant believe how few vendors take adequate photos of their swords."
It would be good if Paul destroyed one, but I doubt he really wants to wreck every sword he gets. Poor fella.

I know, you would think vendors would take the time to at least provide decent pictures!
AoV will add it to our long list of things to do. There are probably only a few 100 swords on their website. ;D
You are right, and that is why we are gradually going above and beyond just pictures, but also various tests. It will take some time, especially since many swords are discontinued shortly after they are reviewed.
