I've never read any of R.E. Howard's Conan work so I loved the first movie. The second one was awful. I look forward to a new movie with my fingers crossed that they don't ruin it.

A good he-man hmmmmmmmmmmm, I think it's a prerequisite for Conan to have a chin... ;D He did make a good Triple X though! And he was actually pretty good in Babylon AD. My wife hates him, I kinda like him...but I'm not so sure about him and Conan. That's definately just me though =). Cris

I liked Vin Diesel in Pitch Black and that cheesy Fast and Furious movie but haven't liked him in anything since. Though I haven't seen Babylon AD and it looked sort of promising. I'd rather see a relative unknown who can act in the role.

umm ya vin diesel as conan Idon' t think so I'd say an unkown guy would be the best in this case he would have to be a big dude though like arnold was back then and of course a decent actor would be great a new he-man movie would be cool too and hey why not they got a thunder cats movie comming out as well as a G.I. Joe one so I"ve heard.

I wouldn't mind seeing Tom Jane as Conan, honestly. But those a pretty big shoes to fill.

Some of the Conan geeks are pushing for Paul Telfer, who played Hercules. He's Scottish, he's a good actor, he knows how to move, and he's built like a Brick ****house. The ladies may even like him.

Ehhh, I'm not really a fan of Telfer. I would be kind of let down if he was cast.

I didn't really care for Telfer, saw him in that blaa Hercules movie. I like Tom Jane but every time I see him I think he's a beefed up Christopher Lambert.
How about Benno Furmann? He played Siegfried in Ring of the Nibelungs with Kristanna Loken (only good thing I've ever seen her in).

Tom Jane and Benno Furmann are too short and slender for the role; Paul Telfer would be a good choice (better than Jane) if we're looking for someone to play the Cimmerian in his younger days, and at 6'2" he has the height and the build besides. I've seen that Hercules thing he was in...it was the sort of camp I'd come to expect from the TV world w/regard to Hercules...hard to judge an actor in that setting, for me.
Height's not such a big issue these days, Peter Jackson showed us that but still, when you think of Conan, you don't think cheesy, or slim, or weak in any way. I think Arnold did an excellent job portraying that character but even so, he was not Conan to me. Telfer, I think, could do it.
I'm a huge Conan fan, I used to read the comics as well as the mags...the artwork and stories were always better in the magazines. Good times.

Most of your leading actors that are the star of the pic tend to be short. Guys like:
Robert De Niro (5'9") Al Pacino (5'6") Marlon Brando (5'10") Wesley Snipes (5'8") Sylvester Stallone (5'9") Tom Cruise (5'8") James MacAvoy (5'7" - dude from Wanted) Matt Damon (5'9") Thomas Jane (5'10") Brad Pitt (5'11") George Clooney (5'10") Jack Bauer (ok, Kiefer Sutherland lol, 5'9")
Of course, there are exceptions to that rule; guys like Denzel, Clive Owen, Ben Affleck and Will Smith are 6'-6'2"; Jeff Goldblum and Steven Seagal each top over 6'4", then you got Brad Garrett at 6'8" but mostly, they tend to be under 6' in height.

Probably just easier to keep them in-frame with the leading actresses.

I think Randy Couture would be perfect as Conan. Though I don't know if he can act. He's the right build. 6' 1", 220 pounds. He seems intelligent and calm but he tears people apart. Gettin' a bit old though at 46ish.

Gettin' a bit old though at 46ish. Randy's done some small parts in many films, and a bigger part in a stright to video Scorpian King Movie, I haven't seen it yet. I love Randy, and MMA, but I don't see him as Conan. As for 5'10 being short... WTF? I'm 5'10... I never thought of myself as short. I always thought of 5'10 - 6 to be avarage, and above that to be tall, and anything above 6'4-6'6 to be REALLY tall.
