www.valyriansteel.com/shop/sword ... od_27.html So this happened. Apparently it's an exact replica of the sword Ice in HBO's Game of Thrones and for $300 that's actually pretty affordable for a functional replica sword. I like the look of this a lot more than their book series Ice, its got a much sterner and intimidating feel to it. There's a stark-ness (har har) to it that i find very appealing What do you guys think?

I like the fullering on the blade, but will have to reserve opinions on its functionality until the 'Full Tang' is examined by disassembling one.
Overall though. it's different and cool looking.

So.... Surely after all this time, SOMEONE has done a review?! I find the LOOK of the blade very appealing, & the price not too absurd... I just need assurance that it's not a $10 sword in $290 of "clothing"... lol

Yeah - if KOA does not give it the "Battle Ready" blessing - it would not be a user sword. From the stats, the blade is just one big piece of steel cut and polished. No taper or anything.
Looks like a cool display sword. Bet Rob Miller could make a decent functional one maybe using one of his claymore swords as the starting point.

well, half the time swords of this size wind up wall-hangers anyway, & being the "official" copy makes it interesting as a collection piece... lol. I kind of assumed it would be simply cut from a blank rather than forged, but I would still like to see their definition of a "full tang" & a thorough deconstruction of the sword... I suppose a rat-tail that runs the full 10in of the handle might be considered "full-[length]-tang" but to my mind full tang means un-welded, solid, & the entire width of the handle... Also, though it may be one and the same, (as I'm sure the HBO site is a stock image...) the KoA sword doesn't look half as good as the supposedly identical sword sold on HBO's website... store.hbo.com/detail.php?p=506914&icid=mybuys&green=FE9AC3CD-36A0-5168-0465-395DF698B6C8

It's definitely the same sword. One of the best things about KoA is that they take their own "honest" pictures of the swords they stock I wouldn't be suprised if the pictures used by HBO and Valyrian Steel were doctored (in fact I'm quite sure they were) to look nicer

VS tends to be pretty honest about their sword construction. If it has a weld, they say so. Like with their original Longclaw, they said that it is welded to a rod halfway to the pommel, and intended to be a display piece www.valyriansteel.com/2008/07/20 ... -for-sale/ . I purchased Ice, and while I'm confident the construction is solid, it will not be coming off my wall more than once or twice. It is a blade-heavy beast.
