Armour Class Customization
Recently I had my H/T Longsword and EMSH sword sent off to Scotland for some custom work done by Iain at Armour Class. I can honestly report that I was an incredible pain in the ass and Iain was unreasonably accommodating of me
I first contacted him with a hilt design for my longsword after the new year, (this design by my count underwent at least 4 revisions in the ensuing waiting period) and he told me that his waiting list was around half a year. I wasn't very keen on parting ways with my sword for half a year so Iain very kindly agreed to put my order down in the books and I could send it over near the end of March where the bulk of his orders would be complete and expect it back before May.
For the longsword I wanted him to make a grip and a pommel which resembled the albion Regent. He also did some work on the stock guard for me as well. Here are the results:
I think he did an excellent job on the grip and the guard, but the pommel wasn't exactly what I was hoping for. It's not perfectly symmetrical and not totally inline with the guard and the blade. It's still a valiant effort, but I might ask Ernie over at Yeshua sword's to make me another if I can find the cash to get round to it.
The work on the EMSH was much lighter, I sent him a pair of round carnelian cabochon gemstones and asked him mill a seat into the pommel so I could fit them in. They fit perfectly as you might expect. I oven blued the pieces and then super glued the stones in and here are the results.
I also had Iain polish both blades. I'm not entirely sure how he managed to do it but he managed to send it back with a mirror shine which I'm simultaneously attracted to and repelled by. It does have a wallhanger look to it now, and I may give it a good sanding in the future. All in all, Iain's services were very affordable and very good for the money.
