Not sure where to put this, as it isn't a review. But it is a direct comparison of the cutting performance of a medieval and modern tactical sword. Mods please move as you see fit.
I recently posted some pictures of my ATrim Tactical Willowleaf with its new grips. Today I decided to do some comparison cutting between it and my fairly new ATrim Evolution Thorpe Falchion with 28" blade. These are two swords that are almost exactly the same size and weight, but totally dissimilar otherwise. And the way the mass is distrubuted differently makes such a noticeable difference. See for yourself.

Very very impressive on the falchion, the triple mats are quite the eye opener!

Wow. Great cutting, of course, and a great illustration of the difference between two swords.

That's a great comparison vid, and shows off the capabilities nicely. Thanks for posting it up Mike.

Thanks guys. Both these swords are within an ounce or two of each other in weight. Both are within a half inch in blade length. Both are just about exactly the same sharpness. Even the PoB is almost identical. The mass has to be roughly the same right? But MAN what a difference it makes as to how that mass is distributed!
I think this is a clear example of why you simply cannot judge a sword based on arbitrary numbers like length, weight and PoB.

Ah, that ring... the ArchAngel I had not long ago made that same awesome ring when cutting. Boy do I miss it. Gus's Falchions are so sweet.

Well heck, now I have to buy a Thorpe. *SIGH*
Great vid, Mike. I love the timing of the music leading up to the big cuts.

Thanks, and make sure you get the Evo heat treatment. It's well worth the extra price. I have cut a GREAT DEAL with this one, and can't tell it's dulled even the slightest bit.

I too have been really impressed with Gus' new high hardness heat treat.
this cutting test is fun but not in any way surprising for me. the falchion is so thin and is such a powerful build I would be very surprised if the tac saber was able to cut anything like it.
Gus' falchions are truly amazing swords I wish I had been able to hang on to one of them.

I tried to tell ya man, tried many times.....
You'll dig it Luna, it's a treat to cut with. Mine is still keeping the Courtrai company, and I don't see it ever falling out of favor.

speaking of AT falchions, I'm trying to remember who has the first one. it is the only one that looks like this: all others had a style 2 guard and false edge sharpened past the clip. the more I see them and think about it the more I like this first one. some day I intend to try and track it down and buy it back. is that one yours Chuck?
