speaking of zelda swords... strangely enough it was actually while playing Twilight Princess a few months ago that I had a sudden uncontrolable urge to learn more about swords, which quickly developed into a desire to own a functional sword, which in turn led me to SBG and this forum i REALLY like link's sword in that game (not the master sword, but the one you get first). here's a pic: www.keljeu.com/images/latest_news/link.jpg it looks sort of like a cross between a type X and type XII or maybe a type XIa... obviously though its not historically accurate and doesn't fall neatly into an oakeshott type. it does looks sort of plausable however. anyway, there's a fantasy sword i'd like to see come to life as a functional blade... maybe i'll draw up specs if there's another design your own sword competition

Noooooooooo!!! I still have those tunes from the Ocarina of Time on N64 stuck in my head! Make it stop! ;D I agree with David, though. That sword from Twilight Princess looks very cool. The Master Sword has never appealed to me, but I'd like to see the TP sword made as a functional sword.

wow, good find tim the master sword has never been my favorite design either... but this guy seems to be doing a pretty good job! and of course seeing anything from the legend of zelda come to life gives me a pleasant tingly feeling . actually they briefly mention the ordon sword on page 7 of that thread (the ordon is the one i was talking about before). sounds like they like it too ... maybe there is hope to see it in real life one day.

I know that there is one actual custom Master Sword already in existence. I'll see if I can dredge it up. It cost a guy several thousand british pounds, but it was an amazing piece. Fully functional in every way.

Wow! I don't think I'd fork over $3300 for a video game sword, myself (regardless of quality), but to each his own. At least he used a known smith with a good rep (Rob and Castle Keep are a known well enough at myArmoury) to make it, so we can at least get an idea of the quality.

I've never really been a fan of zelda, to be honest i've kinda avoided zelda as much as i can, dunno why really. But man, that sword is awesome!
Kreig: it all depends on how much one can afford, and how bad one wants it. I can think of a few videogame swords i'd be willing to pay that sum for (if i had that much money, that is), as long as it's good quality.

I'm considering getting a Zelda sword for my wife, she isn't into swords but loves the Zelda games, I have to admit I really liked the ocarina of time myself. LOL

im sure the weight would be too high to be useful to cut with properly but would make a good conversation piece

don't wanna be mean or anything, but yeahhhhhh, that sword is definitely not battle ready. If you look at the reviews and description, it shows that all of the fittings are plastic, and the blade is stainless steel. I wouldn't try swinging that around. The shield is cool though.

I could listen to the zora music from zelda 64 and sleep like a baby.
