I'd pick the mainz. I already have the pompeii. It's a fine tough sharp sword, tho neither is historically accurate if that is a concern. I think the mainz would have the edge on cutting because of the shape of the blade. I intend to get one eventually.

IF you had to pick just one roman sword from gen-2 what would be your pick and why? The Wasp Waisted version as opposed to the later style. Yeah, its not exactly a replica, but it looks like a real work horse of a short sword. Unless something strange happens, it will be my next sword.

Swordboy, you are correct, the gladii now come with wood core scabbards. The newer models pommel and guards are also different than the old ones, more oval instead of round.
