fallen, it depends on what you want the sword for. If you just want to hang it on your wall and admire it, it will probably do. If you want to be able to cut with it or do other sword like stuff, I'd give it a pass as it's blade is stainless steel. Keep in mind I haven't handled this particular sword and am only going by the vendor discription. I haven't heard of any functional Maximus sword replicas, but that doesn't mean one doesn't exist. At any rate, welcome to the forum and good luck in your search. I like a good gladius myself.

Windlass made the Official Gladiator Sword from the movie a few years ago. They were spring steel and came with the typical windlass dull edge (actually had a thicker edge than the typical windlass sword).
You may be able to find one on e-bay. I have one, but would not part with it for any amount of money the average person could afford. ;D It is in my top 3 of favorite movies of all time.

I believe there may have been two productions of the Maximus sword because mine is carbon steel and has an edge comparable to the normal windlass swords. I remember however, seeing some Maximus swords with a thick edge. Interesting As far as ebay is concerned, good luck! Not only are they hard to find, they usually go for $1000 since they have discountinued for awhile. I would not sell mine for any price!!!!

I think if someone offered me $1000 I might be tempted!
Currently my movie collection includes:
Limited Edition Anduril (official UC) Helm of the Spaniard (official from Windlass) Sword of Maximus (official from Windlass) 300 Spartan Shield (official from Windlass 300 Spartan Helm (official from Windlass) Sting and scabbard (official UC)
and that's about it for movie swords/armor. I had a Glamdring hanging in my office at one point, but sold it. If only the UC Lord of the Rings swords were spring steel instead of stainless I may have kept it.

From Factory X I have the Maximus, the Tigris, the sword of Dracula, the Rhino Bowie.
The UC Narsil, Boromir and Eowen and sword of Zorro with scabbard(limited edition)
The Windlass Ibelin, sword of Raynald, the King of Jerusalem and the Tiberias (Guy really) all with Scabbard. Also have the Balian helmet , shield and surcoat.
I am now tempted by the sword and helmet of Beowulf. Jason, what are your overall impressions on these two products? Let me know.

I was disappointed with the sword of Beowulf. It is not one I would spend my money on.
I have not seen the helm. If you are seriously interested I could order one to have a look at it for you.
I forgot I also have a Tiberius sword from KOH.
