I almost feel the urge to get two. Sharpen one up and use it for light cutting, and keep the other on the wall to admire its beauty.

Yeah!! It's gorgeous!! Would like to offer my sincere apology to disgress this track a little as I do not know how best to address this in other track: Has anyone bought from KultofAthena lately?? I asked because I had a rather disappointing experience with them I spotted a couple of items from the online catalog.. I sent them a couple of questions whether they ship to SG, who they shipped with & shipping charges; I got a reply & an apology 10 days from my first query.. By then, I'd discovered more items I wanted to buy on their 'Scratch & Dent' section & wanted them to requote charges with my new orders... But all these subsequent queries remained UNANSWERED till now (since mid May) The last time I checked their website, all the items I wanted are gone :-( I really do not know if I should do biz with such co. My purpose of this writing is to caution all of you should you have high hopes on their responses.. particularly, International buyers like myself, I think. Once again, my sincere apology to those of you who may be annoyed by my digression. Sorie

From what I've heard over at myarmoury and elsewhere, they are an outstanding company with excellent customer service. In fact, this is the only anti-KOA post I've heard of.
Check out myarmoury, do a quick search and you'll find quite a few satisfied people. Maybe you just got really unlucky?

I bought a couple items from KOA a while back, no problems, but then I didn't attempt any communication, just paid and they shipped and I'm in the US. May be a different case out of country. I been condidering a bronze sword for a while now, thats the best one I've seen in my price range.

No troubles here either. I got my G2 12th C. sword and dagger from them, and both orders went smooth as glass. Like RicWilly, though, I never had a need to try and contact them, so I can't speak to their email communication.

I live in Canada, and have only ordered from Kult of Athena, and have continued to have great experiences. Usually my emails get replied to within a matter of days, sometimes (as with recently) I have exchanged several emails over the course of a day with Ryan, who is either the owner or the person in charge of shipping. I'm not sure why you had such experiences, Larry, but I'd urge you to send a complaint to their info address. They can't improve until they know what they're doing wrong.
Kriegschwert, if you're interested about Deepeeka, I wrote a review on one of their swords that can be found here: /index.cgi?board=swordreviews&action=display&thread=1184359125
Cheers.

Sometimes online sales sites will not do communications. I called TrueSwords once and never got a response. Ordered some beaters and they were here in 3 days... In retail you need to plunk down $$ to get noticed typically. Try getting a Mercedes' dealers attention on the lot while wearing crappy clothes... Even with a million dollars he won't give you the time of day. Dress sharp and have no money and they will be all over you. *No one ever said car salesman were intelligent. They are on commission! ;D

All salespeople are like that. I've got tons of stories about how I got ignored by salespeople for looking young and cheap.

As out-of-country buyer, I need to access how forthcoming/responsive the online co. is through email communications as that'll be the mode of communications should the products turned out problematic when I received it... Well... at least, they need to come back to me with a shipping quote without which I'd not be able to buy from them no matter how attractive those sweet, steely stuffs are.. Yea.. perhaps I'll try writing a nice feedback to them shortly. Thanks fellas for the floods of assuring response! *Disgression over*

Actually, the price of Bonze has tripled I think. Gen2 was having trouble with it, because they had to increase their prices on swords with bronze parts by quite a bit.

After thinking about this sword some more, I think I'll pass on it. At its most basic level, bronze is copper alloyed with a bit of tin for additional hardness. Today, there are many bronze alloys that contain tin, silicon, and other materials, some of which are better suited for weapon use than others (some are much softer, etc.). There's no way to tell what particular type they are using, so... As far as sharpening, a sword like this would have to be filed, sanded, and so on to produce an edge. Again, having given it more thought, I doubt this would produce a suitable edge, it would just be too soft and prone to damage. Apparently, historical bronze edged weapons had the edges work hardened (forged? I don't know the exact term) into shape, so that the edge was denser and harder than the body.

Yeah, I can't see myself buying a sword I can't cut with at this time. Still, it's pretty, maybe if it was a bit cheaper.

Yeah, I can't see myself buying a sword I can't cut with at this time. Exactly. It's a beautiful piece, but I (like you) buy my toys to use.
