Hey larry, I'm new here and I was also looking for a nice Falcata, have you received your Windlass yet? I was also looking at the two versions you were looking at, I like the look of the red sheathed one, but I haven't heard from anyone how well the sword holds up in use.

Haha, I might, though I'm leaning more towards the Windlass. I'll have to wait for my last summer paycheck before I will make my choice!

Socreddy, do rem'ber to update us with a review & more pic when you received your Falcata; think you've got a good choice by going for the Windlass version as I heard from fellow SBG-forumites that Deepeeka's products are sometimes of a hit-and-miss...

No problem, I'll probably have the sword in hand by the end of July, so I'll be sure to post a review. Though I may need to ask your help in handling sword terms, I'm pretty new to all this stuff! You wouldn't happen to have any reliable sources where I could read about general sword design and terms? Either that or I guess I could just keep reading SBG lol

Paul Southren told me that the Generation 2 falcata is the best and toughest falcata out there. The Windlass one looks really good, but it doesn't have the same cutting power that the generation 2 one has. Paul also told me that it has more cutting power than the Cold Steel grosse messer!!

Valiant Co an Australian company, they also make a pattern welded steel one as well. That one goes for a mere $250 Australian. The handle is buffalo horn, it is a really amazing piece and this company has good reviews on all the products they have made.

I've got one of their goloks and it seems like a decent knife. Some of their handles can be a bit small and they seem to go out of stock on the kopis quite often (I tried to get in on a group buy for some and then joined another group buy but they were out of them at that time.)
