I know, I've heard about the "spotty" QC, but I've been wanting an ancient style short sword, and right now I can't afford anything more. So it was the Qama or nothing. At $40 plus S/H, I took the chance. I hope I get a good one!

I have a qama and it is a great close quarter combat weapon. It is primarily a stabbing or thrusting weapon. The blade is not long enough to really be an efficient cutter. You must be prepared for one thing however, do not expect the finish to be perfect, at $40, I am sure you are expecting this. The blade however, is fantastic. You will enjoy this weapon.

Cool, thanx for the info. I'm not overly concerned about the finish. I mainly want something to play with while I watch Spartacus!

I bought one several years ago when I visited Museum Replicas. I went for a Patton sword, they were out and I ended up with the quama and a couple of other swords. My only complaint is the small grip. Not very comfortable. Mine had no edge but I took care of that.

Well, I have kind of small hands, so maybe it'll work for me.

I mainly want something to play with while I watch Spartacus! That's a great line, I may have to use that in my sig at some point! ;D I've looked at the Qama many times, but I've never heard any firsthand accounts of the stock version, though several people have rehilted them as Pompeii Gladii with pretty good results. REVIEW! REVIEW! REVIEW!

I forgot, but I have a Qama from MRL. It seems well built, but I found the grip to be extremely small and uncomfortable.

I don't think any of us can match JP's collection. I've heard the locals often mistake his house for the Reliks showroom. ;D

Oh yeah! That is a guaranteed winning bet! However, I will admit to being the one who probably has the most broken swords.

Thanks fellas, I do enjoy collecting ancient weapons repro and I WISH I had more swords than Reliks showroom. I am telling you, if you ever have a chance to go, it is a beautiful showroom. I am planning the two hour in May to buy myself 40th b-day present S. I am not sure at this point if I will bring my lovely wife with me, I may have to walk back home if I do

I am not sure at this point if I will bring my lovely wife with me, I may have to walk back home if I do Here's what you do, JP: buy your wife a pair of shoes for every sword (or other weapon) you buy for yourself. It'll cost you a bit more than you probably want to spend, but it will ensure domestic tranquility. ;D

I just had to bring this thread back up, since I, too, just purchased a Qama. I've been looking at it over at Reliks for a few weeks, and I finally decided to take the plunge. I like the simplicity of the design, and, like shilohlee, wanted something in an inexpensive yet functional ancient style sword. The best part? I had a couple gift certificates laying around over at Reliks, courtesy of Our Fearless Leader (Paul), and I combined those with the SBG/Reliks discount to get the sword for a whopping grand total of $15.01 USD! For $15, it seems hard to go wrong, eh? ;D

Wow, this sword looks very interesting, I think it would make a nice gift for myself. I would get it for my friend's b-day, but he has large hands whereas my hands are fairly small... Which is the best site to buy this sword from?

The only places I've found it recently are: Reliks, By The Sword, and Atlanta Cutlery. I didn't even see it on MRL's site (I might have just missed it or something). Reliks would have been my choice, even if I hadn't had the gift vouchers.
