I have been collecting swords for about 2 years now and I'm looking at diversifying by purchasing some Gauntlets for display purposes. I've had my eye on DSA's Gauntlets for some time now darksword-armory.com/products-pa ... lets-1706/ Are these good for the price? $500 or are there better Gauntlets out there for the money or even cheaper? P.S. Gauntlets for me are a whole new territory and my knowledge on them is minimal.

They are nice; worth $500...well what are you going to use them for. For looks they are great, for sparing they are ok. In the $500 price range you can find some custom pieces that would work better. For a set that is cheaper and greater historically and in function I would recommend “marshal historical” Gauntlets. I own a pair of their German gauntlets that are semi-custom and paid around $220 for them. The fact that I still have them is a testament to their quality; I make gauntlets and other various things when I have time to do so. I would recommend them, however it is hard to find places that carry their products and have them in stock. I do not have time or I would offer to make you a set. I could ask a few of my friends that are armorers if they could make a pair and get a cost estimate for you if you’d like. Just let me know.

Consider looking on the Armor Archive. Lots of good folks who beat the crap out of their gear and have lots of good recommendations. Plus there is a sale page that always has something....

Yes. kultofathena.com/product.asp?ite ... +Gauntlets I did some slight modifications to the knuckle plate. On me it was rubbing on out-side pointer finger knuckle, not usually a problem but my first two knuckles on my hands are big. :/

Hello I'm new here but I would second the advice to check the Armour Archive. There is an armourer there called Pit Bull that had a great pair of 16th century style gaunts up for sale a bit ago. The articulation was great and I know he does good work. I believe he also takes returns if his product is not up to your needs. The price was also around half of that if I remember correctly. Go to the Armour Archive and do a search, you should be able to find them.
Good luck

I have a lot of experience with Armstreet stuff. You pay a premium for it, but get gear that is far higher quality than anything else in the same price range. It is also customized as you request and fitted to you as best possible over the internet. If you can make it to Pennsic, they can see you in person to take your order.

That's excellent. In a moment of insanity I ordered some "boots" from MRL when their Lord of the Rings stuff came out. They arrived a sad repentantion of boots I'll tell ya! MRL was nice enough to take them back. These look pretty well made. Handmade boots for less then $250 is a pretty cool deal
