So I'm looking for a functional reproduction crossbow that would hopefully be aesthetically similar to the archetypal medieval ones. I've seen just about nothing on Kult of Athena or even MyArmoury. The closest I've gotten can be found here: replicacrossbowworld.com/hunting.html, but I'm not really sure of their pricing and haven't bothered to inquire yet. I should also note that I'm looking for something in the sub 400 range. I've seen plenty of archery fans on this board, but a strange lack of anyone interested in crossbows, so is there anyone out there that has any experience with crossbows that aren't the culimination of hundreds of years of mechanical theory and lust for deer blood? Thanks in advance.

Leo Todeschini undoubtably makes some of the best... won't be sub 400$ though. Ever though of making your own? Many people use a fiberglass prod and cover it with leather. Looks good.

Yeah Tod is the man for replica medievil bows, expensive though but his crossbows are very highly thought of www.todsstuff.co.uk/crossbows/crossbows.htmOther than that making you're own isn't that difficult compared to a modern crossbow.Sorry i dont know of any under $400 that i could recommend

www.crossbows.net/stock.phpYou get a true "Iolo's Crossbow" from this company. David Watson was the inspiration for the character "Iolo" in the old Ultima series games.
