Hello This time I want to present a rondel dagger I recently made. It was forged from 50HS spring steel than oil quenched.Disks are made of polished brass. The handle is jatoba(maybe South Amercican wood is not appropriate for purists but it is one of my favourites and IMO has a great texture and colour-in reality is slightly darker than in the picture.I think I must really take some picture taking lessons ) It is sharp enough to slice paper and shave forearms Overall lenght: 35 cm Blade lenght: 23 cm It already has an owner.

You made that? I wasn't aware you were in the business of making things.
Very nice work.

Oh yes, Elchon seems to be quite handy at making all kinds of things. /index.cgi?board=armour&action=display&thread=1187971574&page=2Very nice rondel Elchon. I have one that I'm fabricating at the moment, though it's not anywhere near as attractive as yours. Pretty effective though, aren't they? I can see why knights feared rondels more then most other things.

Yes they are effective-especially in thrusting.I can only imagine how deep penetration is possible with even more thrusting-type blade like triangular or more acute and agressive diamond cross section.
darkintruder-when you finish your project don't hesitate to show it.It is good to discuss and share skills.

You made that? I wasn't aware you were in the business of making things. Very nice work. It is still more hobby than job.I make knives/daggers and brigandines for me,friends and for sale(by the way my last brigandine is still available ). But if nothing bad happens making weapons and/or armours should be my job in a few years.

Wow, so you forged that blade, rather than ground it? The blade looks very straight and accurate, how long have you been forging? Excellent job, Karma.

Forging was a first step-gave the basic shape.Than was grinding-first rough than more carefull hand filework. The last step was polishing. How long?Forging was few hours.Grinding took more time.

Hello This is my recent child The little brother of the prievious one. The elegant weapon for the collection, reenactment or light cuting. Hand forged from 50HS spring steel, hardened, tempered, most of the grinding was made without powertools. All the hardening and tempering was made by me without help of any specialized plant. Blade is handmade satin finish, diamond cross section. The handle is jatoba(very hard and quite expensive wood, very decompose-proof).Disks are polished brass. The tang is peened. The blade is sharp. Total lenght 27.5 cm (10.8 inches) blade lenght 17cm (6.7 inches) The price is 150$+shipping (70% of the usual because of a slight asymetry of the handle visible on the picture)

Thanks. ;D Custom work is usually more expensive. You don't need an unique custom piece for all purposes. There always be the market for mass producers

Nice work, but get a Photobucket account. The Imageshask pop-ups are annoying, and get in the way of our viewing pleasure.
