As you all know there has been some problems with the forum recently. Independent of that , we, the staff had been brainstorming about possible projects and contests to keep things lively and intersting here at SBG. The forum problems obviously helped us come up with a reason to have a contest.
The forum is being migrated to a new server . This will end the problems we've been experiencing , and should increase functionality. This will be expensive. I had already considered doing a tshirt contest and using tshirts as possible future prizes, however , this offered an opportunity to have the tshirts help pay for the move.
I have sent the last several weeks rounding up sponsors for this , and a series of contests to follow, and let me tell you SBG , the response has been tremendous. What a great family of manufacturers, vendors and craftsmen we are lucky enough to work with here at SBG.
The Contest
The contest is simple . Create a slogan to be used on a T-shirt. The shirts will be of a basic nature. They will have the SBG seal on the front , along with the winning slogan. On the back , sponsors will be listed. I didn't want to dod a T-shirt design contest , because that excludes many people , and the graphic artists among us become the only real competitors.
With a slogan , we all can participate.
Each entrant may submit up to 5 slogans . The slogans are to be simple ... a short phrase that will fit easily on a shirt.
Original and catchy is good ... so be creative.
I hope Randy doesn't mind me using UBC as an example... UBC has the slogan : United Backyard Cutters: Can YOU make the cut? Hopefully this will get the old creative juices flowing.
The person submitting the winning slogan first , wins the prize(s)
The Sponsors
SBG is lucky enough to have in our community a wonderful group of craftsmen , manufacturers and vendors. I sent out an email, explaining our need , and our plans , and our desire for future contests , and the response was overwhelming. All of the sponsors listed below have donated or pledged to donate a cash sponsorship fee to be used for the making of the tshirts, a sword or similar item for a prize or both.
I would like to encourage all SBGers to consider the willingness of our sposors to aid our community when making decisions about what and where to purchase.
The following sponsors are listed in alphabetical order excluding SBG itself. No inferences can or should be made by their position on this list except the letter their name begins with.
