These have been on pre-order for months. I am surprised to see they still aren't available. But I agree with ya, these blades would be great cut'n'thrust short swords.
If you need more info on them, I suggest that you have a look at Kershaw's subforum, on bladeforums. This forum always has a guy from the main company answering questions.

Received a Kershaw camp 18 for Christmas. It is as I imagined it would be. Thick enough to be flex free, good thrusting ability. Enough mass for a powerful cut. I tend to favor a flat ground blade for tactical work and this blade has a sweet blade profile. Time will tell how good the temper/steel is. I think the handle and sheath are good. Personally, I think it would serve well as a tactical short sword.

So what kind of missions do you plan to take it on?

I have a Kershaw Camp 18 in the mail. Under 40 bucks and was curious to actually handle one.

Received the Kershaw Camp today. For the price, it is a well done big knife or short sword. Would not really classify as a machete as the blade is too thick.

I was giving the Camp 18 by a student, it's great for FMA training and it's a great hacker for backyard machete work.

I hope they make a 22" or a 24".

I have considered the 18". It looks very comfortable and stylish, but I do have a strong preference for short swords/machetes with full D guards. If they made one like that I'd be sold.

If they made one like that I'd be sold. 3 mods I intend to do on mine. 1 file down the first 8" from the point so it's a little thinner and cuts better. 2 drop the point a little and sharpen the back edge and 3 make a handguard for it.
