Hi everybody! Does anybody know if there is a functional version of the Kurgan Sword from "Highlander"? I know about the Master Cutlery version and the Marto version, but they're stainless... This is a sword I've been wanting since I watched the movie. Seeing The Kurgan assembling it, and doing that kata, was impressive. The spikes were also impressive and mean looking. Probably Fable Blades could make one, but unfortunately their blades, althgouh they worth every penny, are a little bit out of my budget. Regards, Alex.

If that's really you in the pic, I can see why you like the Kurgan's sword. A little black leather and you could pass for the Kurgan at a Convention. Even allowing for the difference in height.

i think your best bet would be to buy a bare blade thats simmilar to the kurgan and have the hilt custom made by someone like jeffrey robinson or yeshuas swords.

I did actually draw my interpretation of this sword, but I haven't made it yet. No moving parts of course :-) And no disassemble either. Just a real sword. www.fableblades.com/Unmade.html :-) Attachments:

Thanks everybody. Taran, that's really me. I am 1,92 meters tall. Brendan, as I said, I am a huge fan of your work, but unfortunatelly your quality, as Albion's, is a little bit out of my financial income... I know of course the "disassemble" is a poetic license of the movie, and an invitation for a flying helicopter of death if someone tries to make it for real. William, the Darksword looks amazing! Why could'nt they get the spikes from Marto? I will have to give a thought on the Darksword. Regards, Alex.

Texas Steel Props and Replicas can make you an exact fully functional Kurgan sword if you want. Check them out right here. texasspr.com/Home.htmlHe can also make the suitcase version, but its not functional, but still awfully cool! He made this for me. Good luck in your quest! Attachments:

Like FHideg said, I can make it, i can use screen used parts for the cast, i had the actual suitcase for about 3 months getting all its measurments and making molds of all the sword parts as i am making a run for Davis Panzer later this year.. and unless you want a specific type of blade i would use a spring steel blade and keep costs pretty low.. i can use bronze for the guard and pommell unless weight is an issue and i can go with stainless steel... i recreated the Excalibur from Clive Owens "king arthur' Film and it came out fantastic... i even make the helmet to go with the sword original suitcase

I don't know how you could take 2 seperate pieces of steel and be able to attach them and swing/cut with it.. That will automatically be a weak spot, I was going to use set screws to attach the 2 but havnt made it that far in production ...

what would the cost be for a functional kurgan, and/ or a functional Ramirez Katana?

lol thats kinda trick question... what kind of blade and which handle for the conner, the kurgan, what blade material and what do you want the fittings made from? al these factor into cost..
but for an idea... a kurgan sword, with a spring steel blade, bronze fitings and a leather sewn sheath will run about 950... thats battle ready and cost is pretty doable.

Wow, that suitcase looks AMAZING! Pointgallery, your work is fantastic. Thanks for sharing. Too bad I'm a poor brazilian that has a small salary in brazilian Reais, not american Dollars... The most I've spent was US$ 300 for my Windlass Atlantean, and I had to buy 2 others on my credit card and re-sell here just to get even... Regards, Alexander.

Well I'm very user friendly, the main costs are the blade because I do all my own bronze work, if you can find a blank blade that's similiar or someone here has a blank we can buy for a few hundred dollars, ill do it for you for the cost of the blade and shipping...

Well the blade only deal I was offering conanfanbrazil.. But since I made the offer open and in public.. I'll do this.. Your blade for a kurgan and you cover shipping, and the bronze work and mount... 300usd an ill do that.. For 3 customers only lol bronze work isn't a walk in the park ... BUT the blade has to be how you want it, and it has to be live steel and full tang... No SS...

Siato ill mount your blade with any handle and tsuba.. There are mounting fees and handle is non removable, the tang is encase in resin and will not need maintance...
