I don't think so. I don't think a saber would handle correctly, nor would it be very desirable, without fullers. May I suggest what I think is the ?AT1557? Gus? I am referring to the single hand Type XVIII that closely resembles the Henry V sword, but with a bit longer blade that's not hollow ground. And definitely do it with curved guards... That's a good suggestion, Mike I like that one. That might just be it....... 27 to 28 inch blade, 2lbs even, a real handling little fool........

ShooterMike, What a beautiful sword you are suggesting! When you said it should not be hollow ground was it because of cost factor (sub $300)? Otherwise do you not desire a hollow ground sword as compare to one without? I don't really do any hollow grinds. The flat main bevel works real well........

I don't see why not. It would shift the balance point forward a bit, but then, I (personally) like forward balance points. It would handle differently, not incorrectly, IMO. Not desirable without fullers? Again, I don't see why that wouldn't work. I think the fullers on the sabers seem rather tacky, at least in the images. With blades of these nature, it actually works best designing new blades. By doing the bevels and distal taper differently, can maintain or improve on handling........

I will leave that for Gus to address. The sword I was referring to as a suggestion for the next SBG ATrim is the one this AT/CF is based on. Well, seems I totally zoned out on this thread (sorry about that, Gus). I guess my mind has been wandering elsewhere of late. Anyhoo, brilliant idea, Mike. There's nothing quite like a wide XVIII (my all time favorite of the Typologies, in fact) with curved guard and wheel pommel. You're right, very Henry V-ish. Good call!

I have a DD1404 and I can recommend it very highly. It is a heavy cutter, even though it's a Type XIV. And it handles very well. Lively and fairly quick for such a powerful sword.
I have committed to, and will happily buy a 1557, a 1566 and a 1506. Can't wait to get them, though realistically it will probably take 6-9 months to complete, unless I miss my guess.

Mike, do you mind explaining the meaning of various AT sword prefixes: AT, DN, DD, MS....? Do they represent different furniture configurations given the same blade?
Thanks!

Last I talked to Gus (3 days ago) it looks like the the AT1315s will be finished in another 2-3 weeks. Barring any setbacks of course. Maybe Gus can provide an update?... My understanding is that the DD prefix stands for "Dirty Daug" which was Gus' nickname way back. Thus those are older designs. The AT stands for Angus Trim and are the newer designs. The DN I believe stands for Don Nelson who designed those swords and Gus attributes them to him. The DS refers to another line of designs, done for someone else to retail but I can't remember who. There were also some MS designs that are pretty early swords. It's my understanding that these were done for and sold through the sword forum Museum Store here.

From reading the various posts on these forums and SFI, the price that Gus is offering these swords for is excellent. If you missed out on the chance at the SBG ATrims, this is certainly an opportunity. I've placed an order for an AT1403 ;D

I missed out on a used Albion Sovereign last week, so i'm stoked about getting the AT1404. I may get the 1557 as well. And the MS2104. Thats it, i swear.

I'm really interested in this sale, but I'm afraid I'm not familiar with the different designs Gus has.
Does anyone know or have pics of:
AT1557
MS2104
AT1502?

Nope. Comes up as an error. It may be because I'm not on a mac.
I know it's an arming sword, but that's it.
Whoops nevermind...
Nice! Now it's a choice between the 1502, and the 1557.
Decisions, decisions...

LOL, now I know why a simple click on the AT1557 link does not work: There is a comma in the link. Depends on the browser, you may have to copy and paste the whole url on the address bar to get it to work.
