Maybe you'll feel better to learn that you actually missed it by about 10 months.

Oh Bugger dang it all, I missed this by ten month. I'll be doing another sale in a bit. Maybe about three months or so..... I'm going to do it a little different though.....this one took longer to do than I'd initially anticipated. So........ we talk about parameters, and/ or which sword should be a part of the sale, but I don't think I'll actually take money, or have the "Sale" officially until the swords are done......

All I can say is that if you offer a sabre I won't be able to stop myself. I contacted a guy here in Australia about your bastard sabre but unfortunately it is a bit outside of my means at this point in time. If you offered a sabre of that kind for $300 I would be all over it like white on rice.

I've just splurged on a second hand Atrim so my sword budget is a bit taxed... (shipping from overseas takes too long, too!) though if there's going to be a new SBG Atrim I think I would find it very difficult to stay away from it!

When Tsafa and Adam were here 2 weeks ago, we talked at length with Gus on the phone. This is one of the things that came up, as Tsafa BADLY wants a 1315. (the dirty dog tried to hypnotize me so he could sneak my 1315 into his car before he left! ) Unfortunately, Gus said that if he does a sale sword again it wouldn't be until at least sometime next year. And it definitely wouldn't be under $300. Probably something like $375-400 if I recall correctly.

Just wanted to note, I recieved the sword a couple of months ago and am very pleased. An A Trim for $300 , Heck, whats not to be pleased about? I agree - the sword is a fine piece of work and I'm very pleased with the one I received. As a matter of fact, I jumped in and ordered another during Gus' Pay Off the Machine sale. The only issue I have right now is that as part of the SBG 1315 order, I contacted Gus about ordering a scabbard to go with the sword. So far, I'm still waiting on the scabbard - which Gus has said is finished. I know he's had a lot going on, and it's pretty much been impossible to get in touch with Gus these days, but money has exchanged hands and I still wait for the scabbard to show up. I've remained patient, and only sent a couple of e-mails to Gus, but the lack of response and the lack of the item has left me frustrated. I've reached out to a couple of folks that know and talk with Gus, with little result, unfortunately. Now I'm left with posting publicly in the hope that this might be resolved. Gus' blades - especially at these sale prices - are an outstanding bargain and I would not hesitate to order another. I would, however, not order any extras unless it was clearly understood that full payment would not be made for those until confirmation of shipment was made. As a matter of fact, I think my lesson learned is not to pay in full for any order until it was ready to be shipped.

I can understand the frustration and as to voicing it publicly, kind of a darned if you do, darned if you don't kind of situation.
What must be even more frustrating is to read of turnarounds on other work that has taken place during the past year. Those being personal and Valiant tune ups while others still wait on preorders. if nothing more than a deposit was applied to those, it really is a matter of just just having to wait, or default (either party). For someone paid in full for goods not received, the only hope is a wait for either the goods or a refund.
The public silence from Gus reflects both his trying to get caught up and finished with past due work, as well as getting past some health and logistic/scheduling issues he still seems to have great challenges with. I really do wish him well and hope the turnaround for many things on his end gets better and that maybe 2009 be a year that sees less wondering and more smiles.
Ghostwalker, If I am reading you right, your's is the post I consolidated to another thread elsewhere. Please understand I did it in the best interest of it being noticed at all, as Gus' presence on the boards is sporadic at best these days. I'd like to hope no news is good news but that can get frustrating for the most patient.
Cheers

As you say, darned if you do, darned if you don't. I know Gus is busy, but he had asked me to remind him - and I figured it'd be one less thing to stumble over in the shop. Got a PM from ShooterMike - sounds like this order might be taken care of. Thanks for the help, gents!

If Gus did another sale for SBG on a blade, I'd like to see something like the 1312 brought back. Looking at Mike's.......well it appeals to me much more than the 1315.

Comment straight from Gus "Sorry, but no more 1312s. It is a pretty sword, but the handling isn't really up to the standards I want to be building now."
Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if he designs a new version like the 1312 in appearance sometime, but that handles better, and it goes into the Christian Fletcher Maker's Mark or Legacy Line.
There are lots of cool ideas for those two lines. All are geared toward being great handling, but with an eye toward being more historically inspired.

Well...........damn. =/
Still, it'll be cool to see what he comes up with. I like a good number of his blades. The reason I bought the tuned version of the AT303 was because it reminded me so much of the 1312.

Ahh, I see. Then you will be happy to know that the VA Practical single hand arming sword was actually based on the 1315. And he's going to be making a bunch of those.
