If a person is still looking for an answer for an old thread, they are given the power to bump it up. There is no reason to overshadow the currently existing threads with old, already answered threads. This thread is not the case, but a problem is best fixed before it starts.

i think that's pretty idiotic. i have no idea why people get so worked up about this. if paul didn't want you to post on an old thread he would lock them or delete them after two weeks. when someone is new here, one of the first things they do is go through all the old threads. in some cases, they find things in very old threads they find interesting or would like to comment on. what's the harm? disdain for "necroing", is (in my humble opinion) completely asinine.

I never stated it was harmful. Well, not directly anyway. People generally do get worked up, especially on other forums. I will give an example: This one time I was posting on another forum (2 years ago I believe). I was pretty ignorant about unofficial forum rules, and was a complete newb. I was posting on old threads because I found some of them to be quite funny. You would not believe the amount of flame I got for that. Generally, forum users hate it when new guys bring back old threads because it happens so often. A new user joins the forum, posts on every ancient thread, original topics get pushed back and have to be refound. People could always favor the topic, but not a whole lot of people are willing to. I, myself, think that sometimes it get's pretty ridiculous, as a new forumite only requires a push in the right direction. But you sometimes get the odd few who don't look at responses and keep persisting to keep getting everyone angry.

I have to agree with Jason on this one. Necroing has always been frowned upon on other forums I visit, UNLESS something useful or relevant is being posted. In that case, it's much better to simply post in the old thread than to post an entirely new one, since it keeps all the information in one thread.

Hmm, I gotta agree with Jason and Aaron on this one, Seth. I don't see the harm if it perks up interest in a particular thread then it will get some play. If not it'll sink to the dark again quick enough. As to what other forums frown on, we call ourselves the friendly one, no?
The KC celtic is a rather nice leaf blade, btw.

Darksword Armory is making some noise about doing a Glamdring (Gandalf sword) soon. If they copy the one from the movie, it will be a leaf blade.

The KC celtic is a rather nice leaf blade, btw. If you didn't say it I was going to... I know how much you put that sword threw... and I love the look of it.

I mainly stated what I did as a warning against other members who may for some reason give a crap. I personally do not, and sometimes spark up old threads myself. And indeed we try to be a friendly forum, but sadly some forget this. Bringing up this thread was completely appropriate because his question never really did get a whole lot of answers, thus limiting his options. But then again, in even just the past year options have been rising like crazy.

I started a discussion on thread resurrection HEREI'll say that I can rarely find threads I know exist with the search function. Yes I always add a zero or two to the 'days back' and the # of results. DSA seem to be the only ones doing leaf blades, hey? Unless people want to spend a little more then I can sort them out

Brenno, you have no idea how much I DO want to 'spend a little more' and let you 'sort it out' ! The only problem is, I STILL can't seem to get enough for that Sword of Garrigal... Well, I'm finally going to put my video games on Amazon today, so if that pays off I'll have enough, mate. ;D Yeah, I don't have a problem with reviving old threads, AS LONG AS the guy has something to add, as in this case he did. -Slayer

Just out of curiosity, and not meaning to hijack the thread - But what is the rational behind the shape of a leafblade? Added blade presence out where you make contact cutting? Or does it not make much difference and it just looks so cool?
