A design recently bounced around the web and this forum for a table from the UK that turned into a club and small shield.. The principle was pretty cool, but I remember hearing from a few members here (and i agree) that the design could be improved, namely improving the club and removing the spikey thing left at the back of the shield..well that got me thinking, and here's a very technical MS paint drawing of my improved design..Pretty sure I'm going to try and build this sometime. table plan.jpg[/attachment] The table and base are round, the shield consisting of 1/2" plywood with a leather top for aesthetics and strength, and it would end up about 24" across. The thunder stick club would be about 28" long, and would attach to the base by 1 inch sticking out, 1/2 inch wide studs made from steel bolt shanks.

Well I showed this to my best friend. An engineer like my self... 10 min latter he e-mailed me these. His take on how it should be made, after running ideas by myself and some other of our buds to see what we thought. Attachments:

Because furniture is better when it is weaponized! I'm all for this, as I think it's a neat and practical home defensish thinamabob. If, of course, you are willing to club an intruder.
All I can picture is the old Batman show with Adam West: "Holy house invasion, Batman, the Joker's broken into the Batcave!"
"Not to worry, Robin, I have secret maces stashed in all our end tables, for just such an emergency!"

I think its not Batman but it was Captain America in the movie The Avenger. Why? Simply because he was using a shield that looks like the table top.
