You may remember the first Raptor Wakizashi that I received after it's escape from QC. Here I present the review of it's replacement thanks to Paul and Hanwei -
I have no connections to Hanwei, I received this sword as a replacement and paid shipping costs of $53 to Australia.
Wakizashi Measurements: Blade: 19 1/8" or 485mm Tsuka: 6 1/2" or 165mm Overall: 26 13/16" or 680mm Weight: 1 Lb 8 Oz or 700gms
This is a true flat ground blade, from spine to edge, with a somewhat satin finish.
The Tsuka is wrapped in faux-swede like material with the Menuki pinned on the outside,
The Tsuba is black steel, only somewhat magnetic so I'll assume it is some sort of stainless.
The Tsuka core is timber without splits or obvious faults
The Mekugi concerns me, this style of stepped pin leaves me with an uneasy feeling.
As I have plenty of spares it only takes a moment to file the hole to one diameter and fit a "proper" pin. (left)
The blade came sharper than I expected, there were a couple of very small burrs along the edge that took a few moments to remove, the result was an edge sharp for the full length, as I bought this originally as a backyard cutter I could not resist the lure of a water bottle and a sunny day.
The result was a single cut with minimal movement as seen by the amount of water left after the cut.

I customized mine. I started polishing the blade but never finished it. I need to finish that up. It's a really great blade and a great little sword to customize. I might even pick up a second one at some point.

Hey, how did you get yours so long in the picture,
But yes they are a nice blade, would be nice if the factory gave them a better grade of polish.
