Here's my self-made machete "Seakshir" It is made of those huge circular saw blades they use on sawmills. Blade has simply been cut out and sharpened. Handle is made of wood and lacquered black. Blade is attached to handle with two wooden pegs. Pretty easy and quick to make and durable enough to use. -TheMu

How do you cut the shape out of the circular saw blade?

I used angle grinder and hacksaw.

Ok, so you just had to be careful not to overheat the steel with the angle grinder so it didn't lose it's temper?

I used hacksaw to cut the tip and other fine points. I also used a do-it-yourself "water cooling system" to prevent overheating while using the angle grinder:) But I have to admit I wasn't too careful with that... Anyhow the blade has endured well in use. I wouldn't dare to make a longer blade with this technique, though.
