Hey guys i would like to know more about these swords, i`ve seen 2x reviews in the forum but anyone else has it? Those who have it; would you say, if it was.... like this or ... such upgrade made it would be better? Some of you know that i have been looking for my first sword sometime, and leaf blade fantasy swords are always my favourite, this is closer to my budget so i`m considering to get one, but especially n the morrigan pommel looks a little bit big. Also if pommel and guard was steel would it be lighter and better, handling wise? I need a little help on this. Also i appreciate whoever has steerboard can tell me a little about the performance handling durability of steerboard. Cheers viewtopic.php?f=6&t=11840&hilit=morrigan+reviewviewtopic.php?f=6&t=10461&p=131614&hilit=steerboard#p131614

The point of the weight of the pommel and guard is to counterbalance the blade. John's blades are legends in their own right for being perfectly balanced. I would not recommend changing furniture at all. The reason the pommel on the morrigan is so big is because leaf blades are fairly blade heavy. another thing to note is that the longship project allows you to mix and match fittings, so you can technically get a morrigan blade with the fishtail pommel or circle pommel if it so pleases you.
Now if you wanted steel fittings and a leaf blade, he does do full customs, but that'll run you a bit more financially.

I can't speak to the durability of the Steerboard... I've only done some light cutting with it and not too often yet. However... the balance is GREAT. I bought one of each of the 5 Longship lines and reviewed them all except for the Jian... and the Steerboard impressed me the most out of the whole bunch as a user sword.

I will be on my XIV landlord, but I have neither of the models in question. I have no doubt that they could handle it. You have to remember though, within each line is a WORLD of difference. For instance, my XIV landlord is pretty much a totally different sword than the other ones due to blade type, and there are many similar cases out there because of blade length, handle size, pommel and guard, etc...

Aye, some our Steerboards have been different based on who ordered what type of blade. Maybe Sarge can chime in too. His was pretty different from Sean's, if I remember correctly.
Pretty much all the Morrigans so far have been the same though, with the exception of Bill's custom single-hander.

Sarge's Steerboard is now mine... and my Morrigan his. An incestuous little community we have here in the sword world... However... I can now speak to the differences in the swords... Sarge's blade is longer, heavier... the grip is longer. Overall the sword is more of a warsword... much less comfortable in a single hand then my Steerboard was... but more powerful in two.

I am from WV - so the family tree is pretty straight with few branches.

Well - I went over to the next county to get a wife. That should have at least ruled out first cousin marriage. Nothing wrong with cousins - ok to date - but not to marry.

Nah, just make sure the weddin is done at the family reunion and no one will raise an eyebrow
When I get my landlord and settle in to using it, I have far off plans of ordering a similarly done steerboard... The morrigan is gorgeous, but I'd want to handle one before I bought it, never really used a leaf blade that long.
I think in the end you can buy either and rest assured in the fact you got one helluva sword.

Ok Jasmes sent me pictures of Morrigan if i ever decide to go with fishtail or wheel pommel. He said if i wish to have it with a different pommel he can adjust the grip/hilt length to balance the blade and all will be ok. What say you? Attachments:

As much as I love a wheel pommel, that thing is gorgeouser with the fishtail.

Is "gorgeouser" even a word? Ma ii. I agree. I like wheel pommels as much as the next guy, but it looks out of place on this sword... And I'm a sucker for a fishtail/scent stopper.
