I'm contemplating on picking up the DSA Witchking Sword by midsummer, but I'm kinda debating on where to pick it up from. The price difference between the listing on the DSA website, and Kult's isn't that great to where it'd make a remarkable difference.
Kult: $329.95 DSA: $330
But where it differs is the sharpening costs. I generally don't care between the $18 for Kult to sharpen or the $35 for DSA to do it, but this is more of a "who sharpens better then who" sorta scenario. I've seen Kult's sharpening job on my Sword of Homildon Hill, which is decent, but haven't heard specifics about DSA's actual sharpening. Looking for anyone's input on the matter really, maybe even a testimonial on the sword itself if I'm lucky.
P.S. I've just started collecting this year, so I don't know if I am kind of a scrub at this.

If you are in the US, buy it from Kult.
Shipping from Canada is like 30 Bucks or a tick more.
As far as sharpening, I believe that they are on par with each other. You will get a sword with a fair secondary bevel.

I live in Canada actually, Ontario to be more specific, so far, total prices are $391 from Kult, and $400 from DSA themselves. But if the two sharpening are comparable, then I'll just have to flip a coin.

In all fairness, I know Eyal at DSA is a standup guy and has an excellent reputation. But for me, the choice is easy. KoA all the way. I built my collection from them, with a few exceptions. Even here in Canada, Ryan at KoA offers excellent shipping rates and best prices always. However I think DSA offers free shipping in Canada, check it out to make sure. I too have a Homildon Hill from them, and I am not offended by the Kult's secondary bevel sharpening on this piece. It seems modest to me, I'm comfortable with it. Just my 2 cents.

As far as I know, from the swords I've bought from Kult, there's no free shipping, most of the time it ranges anywhere from $42 to $68. But Kult will be the way to go then, thanks for the info!

No prob. My remark about Free Shipping was in reference to DSA, not Kult. Kult obviously charges to ship to us.
Sorry for any confusion.
Good luck!

Just a bit of trivia on the Windlass sharpening option: If memory serves, one of our members (I forget who, but I think it was Yrx) who visited Kult found out that they don't sharpen Windlass swords in-house; when you order the sharpening service, they special order that sword from Windlass already sharpened, which explains the secondary bevel. I believe in every other case, they sharpen the swords in-house.

after my bad experience with DSA, i would advise you tolet kult sharpen it.... at least you won't get an uneven blade with blunt spots
